Temporary Nurse for the Department of Akademiska Home Care

Infectious Disease Service We are Akademiska Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is praised as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. Welcome with your application! Our Operations Are you looking for modern and flexible work where you get both freedom, security, and the opportunity to use your full expertise in your daily work? Then you might be just the right person for us. The Department of Akademiska Home Care is expanding and we now need more colleagues on temporary contracts for our unit. The Department of Akademiska Home Care provides acute specialist care – in the patient's home. Instead of the patient being admitted to the hospital, you and your colleagues visit the patient at home to provide the care that is normally provided in inpatient hospital wards. You build relationships, see the whole picture, and make a real difference for the patient. This form of care has been applied in several places throughout Sweden in recent years and shows very high patient satisfaction and patient involvement. Patient visits occur as needed based on diagnosis, typically one to three times per day. The work is coordinated by a team center together with mobile teams that plan and prioritize both physical and digital visits. The mobile team consisting of a nurse comprises two people and patient meetings take place physically in the home and digitally via video visits with the team center nurse and the patient's responsible physician. Your Assignment As a mobile nurse at the Department of Akademiska Home Care, you will be responsible for the care of patients in their home environment. During home visits, for example, sampling, intravenous antibiotics, injections, and fluid therapy can be administered. Initially, you will work with standard nursing tasks during home visits and based on experience also in combination with responsibility for the team center. There is always a patient's responsible physician at the hospital who, in close collaboration with the nurse at the team center, plans the patient's care. Your Qualifications We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with an interest in this form of care. Meriting experience is experience from inpatient care and/or home health care. You should be flexible in your thinking, be solution-oriented, and enjoy development and digitalization of care. A driver's license is required. What We Offer We offer a temporary contract, with commencement according to agreement. Working hours are initially scheduled for day, evening, and weekend shifts, but with full-scale operations, night shifts may also be an option by agreement. Employment is ongoing. • Introduction consisting of both clinical and theoretical sessions tailored individually based on prior experience. • We apply healthy scheduling with a focus on recovery. The day shift starts at 07:30 in the morning and the evening shift ends at 21:30. With us you get benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/). We are part of the Affective Disorders section, which is a specialist psychiatric operation within the psychiatric department and consists of both inpatient care and several outpatient clinics. We are located in modern facilities where inpatient care, outpatient care, and psychiatric emergency care are all housed under one roof. About Us To ensure care quality, we actively work to develop a good and attractive work environment for nurses. This means we value and protect the nurse's autonomous professional practice, and nursing care has a central role in our operations. Enabling recovery and health are important parts of the nursing work on a psychiatric ward. A clear focus on person-centered care allows individuals' own stories to shape the care provided. On the ward, we work in two care teams where a nurse, together with two nursing assistants, is responsible for half of the patients on the ward. As a charge nurse, you lead the daily nursing work. At the end of each shift, we have reflection in the work group. We also have nursing rounds each week and regular supervision for the nursing team. Together, we establish a care plan with current and planned interventions, which are continuously evaluated. The ward has close and well-functioning collaboration with outpatient care, which ensures safe discharge with good follow-up and treatment even after discharge. We are a fun and diverse group of about 30 people consisting of nurses, both basic and specially trained, a coordinating nurse, nursing assistants, care assistants, and physicians at various levels. Your Role As a nurse, you are responsible for psychiatric and somatic nursing care. You conduct nursing assessments, perform therapeutic interventions, manage medication administration, and maintain contact with relatives and care partners. You document in the Cosmic medical record system, supervise nursing students, and introduce new staff members. Together with the nursing assistants on your care team, you prepare and conduct daily rounds on the ward. You are a key person who, together with your nursing colleagues, leads and distributes the work on the ward. Work days with us can vary greatly. Sometimes the pace is slower and you can spend considerable time talking with or engaging patients, while other days may include acute situations of various kinds or coercive measures, when you as a charge nurse need to make quick decisions and handle stressful situations. Your Qualifications and Competence We are looking for you who are a basic-educated nurse who is either newly trained or has a few years in the profession. What matters is that you want to learn more about psychiatry, that you are open, curious, and genuinely interested in people. What We Offer We offer a permanent full-time position with a start date according to agreement. With us, there are great opportunities to influence your schedule as our nurses create their own preferred schedules. Great emphasis is placed on healthy schedules and the opportunity for each nurse to have a balance between work and leisure. Our working hours comply with current EU directives regarding rest periods between shifts and weekly rest. A salary supplement of 2,000 SEK/month for full-time work is provided as an inpatient care supplement. The opportunity to work night shifts is also available if desired. If you are newly trained, you will work double shifts for eight weeks with the ward's nurses who will introduce you in the best way. If you have previous experience, we will adapt the introduction to that. For those new to the profession, you will have great opportunities to develop in your profession with us, and we have regular training on the ward. For those with longer experience, great opportunities are available for further development and to be part of developing our operations. Contact us and come for a study visit if you would like. Let us tell you more about us! As an employee within Region Uppsala, you have the opportunity to use our internal wellness facility Friskhuset. There you have access to a gym, group training, personal training, courses, lectures, physical therapy, ergonomics, transfer training, and massage.
