Nurse for 85 F1 Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat) Department
Description:
Department of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat) We are Akademiska Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we serve two million people in Central Sweden. Here, things are constantly happening – new lives are born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging times and amazing moments, in a strong sense of community with colleagues. We welcome your application! Our Operations The Otolaryngology (ENT) department diagnoses and treats diseases and conditions affecting the ear, nose, sinuses, oral cavity, upper respiratory tract, as well as hearing and balance. We are primarily a surgical department with both planned and emergency operations. Surgery can range from simple procedures to extensive head and neck tumor surgery. We also have emergency services in the form of an acute care clinic within ENT that is located on the ward during evenings, nights, and weekends and is staffed by department personnel. The acute clinic receives patients with ear, nose, and throat infections, nosebleeds, dizziness, and severe airway obstruction, among other conditions. The department has 12 inpatient beds, all single rooms. Patients are divided into care teams staffed by nursing assistants and nurses. We care for both children and adults, with hospital stays ranging from less than one day to several weeks. Your Assignment The nursing care needs of our patients are highly varied, and the work is based on a strong focus on highly specialized nursing. As a staff member on the department, you are expected to contribute your professional expertise and commitment to create security, continuity, and high trust in patient interactions. Basic nursing care includes pre- and post-operative care. Highly specialized nursing care includes assessment and management of airway problems, bleeding from the nose and throat, and care of tracheostomized patients. The department is particularly focused on upper respiratory tract diseases, with a pronounced focus on tracheostomy care. If you lack prior experience in this area, we offer structured and operationally tailored training in tracheostomy care as part of your orientation. Your Qualifications We are looking for a qualified nurse, preferably with several years of experience. If you have experience working with ear, nose, and throat, that is an asset. As a person, you are stable, solution-oriented, confident, and empathetic. You are responsible, always keep the patient in focus, and appreciate teamwork. We Offer • Stimulating work in a highly specialized care environment • Opportunity for continuous professional development and education • Comprehensive and individually tailored orientation • A multiprofessional team with the patient at the center.
