Licensed Veterinary Nurse for Night Team at AniCura Kumla Animal Hospital
We are now recruiting a licensed veterinary nurse for our night team at AniCura Kumla Animal Hospital. You will work 34 hours per week and be scheduled 20:00–08:00 – in a shift where calm often prevails, but where everything can change quickly. The night shift is about staying one step ahead in the quiet, reading small changes in time, and together with the team creating security when it's needed most. Here you are the one who holds everything together when it really matters. About AniCura Kumla Animal Hospital AniCura Kumla Animal Hospital offers high-quality medical, acute, and surgical veterinary care in a dynamic acute care operation and pleasant environment. AniCura Animal Hospital Kumla is part of region North, which comprises animal hospitals and clinics in fourteen locations. The hospital consists of departments for acute care, ward, surgery, outpatient clinic, rehabilitation, as well as support functions for phone and reception. My name is Jens Berisson, and I work as Animal Hospital Manager here. We want to strengthen our wonderful team and are now looking for a Licensed Veterinary Nurse who is passionate about veterinary care and wants to continue developing the animal hospital together with us. About the Job It is 01:42. The corridors are still, but not completely quiet on your radar. A patient needs follow-up. The phone rings. You catch something that doesn't quite add up on the ward before anyone has said it out loud. This is where you come in and make a difference. As a licensed veterinary nurse in our night team, you have overall responsibility for patient care during the night hours. You work independently but in close collaboration with the rest of the team and handle both planned care and acute situations, with a focus on providing patients with the right care at the right time. The role also includes contact with animal owners, where you inform, guide, and create calm in a safe and professional manner during difficult situations. You are responsible for careful documentation and secure handover reporting to ensure safe shift changes. The work is characterized by variety, responsibility, and close collaboration in an engaged and cohesive team. A night with us might involve... • During rounds, noticing early and subtle changes in patients and adjusting care before their condition worsens. • Quickly adapting to acute situations and creating structure, focus, and clear direction together with the team in the moment. • Working with anesthesia with high precision – where small observations can be crucial for the patient's stability. • Having contact with animal owners where you inform, guide, and create security in pressured and emotionally difficult situations. • Ensuring that documentation and handover reporting occur carefully and systematically so the next shift can continue seamlessly. You start your shift together with the evening team in acute care. During the night you work closely with the veterinarian, and from 03:00 you take independent overall responsibility for the acute care operation. Who We're Looking For You are a licensed veterinary nurse with several years of work experience and thrive in a role where you get to take responsibility and work independently, while also being a natural part of the team throughout the night. We believe you have confidence in clinical work and the ability to quickly switch between planned interventions and unexpected situations. We believe you: • Have an interest in acute care and like being where things happen. • Are confident in your professional role and dare to make decisions. • Have good observational skills and notice details that are crucial for the patient. • Are solution-oriented – you get things done, even at 04:37. • Communicate clearly and warmly, both with colleagues and animal owners. • Speak Swedish fluently in speech and writing. • Have anesthesia competency. And perhaps most importantly: you thrive in a nighttime work environment where both independence and collaboration are crucial.
