Social Secretary – Family Law/Foster Care
Individual and Family Services Individual and Family Services is an operation consisting of three units: Children and Families, Adults, and Administration, with a total of 20 employees. The operation is led by a department manager. Both the Adults unit and the Children and Families unit employ social workers with statutory authority as well as staff working with open care in various forms such as treatment/family support/services for children/family therapy. We are a small municipality and a small social services office where we collaborate and assist each other with work tasks as needed. We are now seeking a social worker in the Children and Families unit to work with family law and foster care. Job Responsibilities As a foster care secretary, your responsibilities include recruiting, investigating, supervising, and following up on foster families, contact families, and contact persons. Matching services to a child's needs is a central role in the foster care secretary's work. Family law services aim to support children and parents in family law matters based on the child's best interest, in accordance with the Parental Code and the Social Services Act. Family law secretaries' responsibilities include investigating matters concerning custody, residence, and visitation on behalf of the district court, as well as handling cases related to paternity/parenthood. Other responsibilities include investigating adoption, custody transfers, and opportunities for parents to enter into agreements. Part of the work involves providing guidance on family law matters. Other tasks may also occur, and the content and conditions of the work may change over time. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: A social work degree or other higher education deemed equivalent by the employer. A B-class driver's license. Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. Experience with statutory authority and knowledge of applicable legislation are merits. The operations are led by an operations manager. The child and family unit is now seeking a social worker. The unit consists of senior case handlers and social workers who work with intake, investigation, and follow-up of interventions, family law, and foster care. It is a small municipality and a relatively small operation where collaboration is essential. We help and support each other with the cases the unit is responsible for. The unit handles cases concerning children and young people from 0 years up to 21 years of age. This involves exercising authority based on the Social Services Act and the Act on Care of Young People. The unit also investigates foster families, contact families, contact persons, and handles family law matters. We are now also working with interventions without assistance decisions based on the new Social Services Act. Development work is underway based on the new Social Services Act, and you will be part of this. Duties As a social worker, your role includes: Working closely with important people in the child's/young person's network with a focus on ensuring the child has a good and secure life Investigating and assessing the child's needs, following up on interventions, and sharing responsibility with colleagues for the unit's intake function Collaborating with both internal and external parties The role involves both exercise of authority and, when needed, treatment interventions based on the new Social Services Act. We are a small office where collaboration and cooperation are important guiding principles. There are short decision-making processes and management close to operations. Now the children and family unit is seeking a family therapist. In the unit there are two family therapists and this will thus be the third position. We have progressed far in the transition to the new Social Services Act and our services to families and individuals are offered via interventions without support decisions. The individual seeks help themselves and the family therapist shapes assignments together with the family/individual. We also continue to work with interventions based on support decisions. Work Tasks As a family therapist, you work to contribute to change work together with families and strengthen and secure relationships between children and their parents. We base our work on systems theory with a focus on resources and relationships, where we try to help people strengthen what already works rather than focus on shortcomings. We strive to adapt our work based on the family's needs and design support and treatment in consultation with the family from a holistic perspective. We have a broad range of assignments and work with both simpler and more extensive and complex cases and different types of issues.
