We are Seeking Part-Time Firefighters for the Sorsele Station
Would you like to join our team and be part of an important and valuable safety resource for the citizens of Sorsele Municipality?
The Rescue Service in Sorsele Municipality consists of stations in Sorsele, Ammarnäs, and a rescue outpost in Gargnäs. In Sorsele, we have 5 personnel on standby distributed across 4 groups. In Ammarnäs, we have 2 personnel across four groups. The Gargnäs outpost includes 10 personnel.
We serve approximately 2,500 residents within our service area. The Rescue Service in Sorsele participates in a collaboration with 10 inland municipalities called RSR10.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who, in addition to your primary employment, wants to make an important contribution to society. Being a part-time firefighter means you have a primary employment with another employer and work as a firefighter on a part-time basis. With us, you will initially be part of a pool and enter standby duty during absences, and eventually work standby duty every fourth week. The position also includes participation in exercises and training courses we organize, which are primarily scheduled in the evenings.
Employment includes 2 weeks of basic training for which compensation is provided according to agreement. This is followed by additional specialized training. During the training courses you need to complete, you will receive a salary. These training courses can be held locally at the rescue service or through MSB's central training system to achieve the required competence. It is therefore important that your primary employer is informed of any need for additional training.
Your Qualities
The work may involve shifts with high pace and demanding physical effort, which is why we are looking for someone who is self-confident and a good team player. You have a positive attitude and value openness, respect, and responsibility. You are mentally strong, stable, resilient, humble, reliable, and in good physical condition. Great weight is placed on personal suitability.
Competence and Qualifications
- Residence and workplace within response time limit (7 minutes)
- Primary employer must approve employment as a part-time firefighter
- Must meet the physical requirements through tests and medical examination
- Must be able to complete an approved treadmill test (provided by the rescue service)
- Swimming proficiency
- Class B driver's license
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language
It is advantageous if you have some form of fire safety training, Class C driver's license for heavy trucks, or previous work experience in rescue services.
Employment Terms
Part-time. Permanent employment, start date: Positions are filled on a rolling basis.
Salary
Salary according to RIB agreement.
Other Information
Those hired who do not have a Class C driver's license will be offered a fixed-term employment for 9 months during which they have the opportunity to obtain their Class C driver's license. The costs for the Class C driver's license are partially covered by the Rescue Service.
Employment starts in the pool; after training and depending on need, you will be assigned to a group.
Part-time, standby duty every fourth week.
