About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now recruiting more staff. Our most important goal is to reduce reoffending – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, remand prisons, and inmate transportation. The Umeå operations area encompasses the closed correctional facility Umeå, the open correctional facility Sörbyn, and the remand prison Umeå. We are undergoing significant capacity expansion, and much is happening in the operations area in the form of renovations and new construction. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also employ healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others. At Sörbyn Correctional Facility, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry, plant cultivation, textiles, etc. Sörbyn is an agricultural facility with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At Umeå Correctional Facility, inmates are engaged in wood/industrial work, kitchen work, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå Correctional Facility and remand prison are approximately a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and Sörbyn Correctional Facility is best reached by car. We are now recruiting a cook on a temporary contract for Sörbyn Correctional Facility. The temporary position runs through December 31, with start date by agreement. Job Description As a cook, you prepare meals for inmates at the correctional facilities and remand prison. The work tasks include all functions typical of a large institutional kitchen: planning, purchasing, preparation of lunch and dinner.
