About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now recruiting more staff. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, remand prisons, and inmate transportation. The Umeå operations area encompasses the closed correctional facility Umeå, the open correctional facility Sörbyn, and the remand prison Umeå. We are undergoing significant capacity expansion, and much is happening in the operations area in the form of renovations and new construction. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also employ healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others. At Sörbyn Correctional Facility, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry, plant cultivation, textiles, etc. Sörbyn is an agricultural facility with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At Umeå Correctional Facility, inmates are engaged in wood/industrial work, kitchen work, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå Correctional Facility and remand prison are approximately a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and Sörbyn Correctional Facility is best reached by car. Staff parking is available at all units. For you who want to be part of creating a daily environment where cooking makes a difference. We are now recruiting a cook on a temporary contract for Sörbyn Correctional Facility. The temporary position runs through December 31, with start date by agreement. Job Description As a cook, you prepare meals for inmates at the correctional facilities and remand prison. The work tasks include all functions typical of a large institutional kitchen: planning, purchasing, preparation of lunch and dinner. The job also includes cleaning the kitchen facilities, dishwashing, and self-inspection in accordance with applicable regulations. Preparation of special diets and other modified meals occurs. The work is carried out in cooperation with other kitchen staff and personnel in other functions. An important part of daily work involves training inmates in the kitchen. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and has self-awareness. You remain calm and composed in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect both yourself and others.
