Two Rehabilitation Assistants at the Forensic Psychiatric Clinic, Säter

The Forensic Psychiatric Clinic in Säter (RPK) provides highly specialized care at regional and national levels. In total, there are 78 care beds across seven care units with experienced nurses and nursing assistants. The patient group primarily presents with psychotic issues and neuropsychiatric functional impairments, often with concurrent substance use/addiction. Care is tailored based on each patient's individual support needs, with the aim of increasing their ability to manage their illness and social everyday life. The primary goal is reintegration into society, with or without continued psychosocial support services. About the Operations The Treatment and Operations Monitoring Team works with long-term treatment contacts for patients sentenced to forensic psychiatric care. The team currently consists of psychologists, social workers, rehabilitation assistants, addiction treatment specialists, and a unit manager. The team is driven and collaboration-oriented; you will be introduced to the forensic psychiatric environment by open and supportive colleagues. Several of us have relocated to the region for this work. The team works in close collaboration with physicians and ward staff, and work takes place during office hours, Monday to Friday. This recruitment replaces two existing rehabilitation assistant positions. Job Duties The work of rehabilitation assistants primarily aims to offer patients a meaningful daily life. This serves both to cultivate engagement, participation, and motivation in the patient's treatment as well as for functional and needs assessment and as practical, active treatment. The work (daytime, Mon–Fri) is varied and consists of theoretical and practical activities, both in groups and individually. Examples of group activities include economics classes, stress management, sleep hygiene classes, and artistic painting. Examples of individual activities may include furniture care, woodworking, and various forms of social training inside and outside RPK's buildings. Physical exercise and sports activities are also included for all rehabilitation assistants. The facility includes, for example, a woodworking shop, a music room (including Cubase), and exercise and training spaces. Desired competency and interest profile for this recruitment includes a) nutrition and physical activity (cooking groups, health education, physical activity, etc.) and b) creative work (painting, drawing, basic woodworking/crafts, music/music creation, etc.). As a Rehabilitation Assistant, you are expected to independently lead and evaluate patients' activities. This, however, occurs in close collaboration with the rest of the treatment team as well as with the care units' staff; it is thus very important that you enjoy working and function well in a team. All patient work is documented as part of the patient's assessment and treatment process. As a rehabilitation assistant, you also share responsibility for maintaining activity spaces and equipment. RPK Säter is currently in a development phase with a focus on more active and evidence-based treatment work. Development work is underway for a more structured care process with expanded methodology and quality monitoring. As part of the treatment team, significant opportunities open for a position in this development process and in shaping the team's work according to the patient group's complex needs. Long-term opportunities also exist within Region Dalarna for further education. Qualifications Requirements: Relevant post-secondary education in, for example, pedagogy, behavioral science, humanities, social sciences, or healthcare/psychiatry. Personal confidence, flexibility, and stability, as well as willingness/ability to meet and work with (all) people. Ability to lead practical and theoretical activities with patients. Willingness and drive for close teamwork; you need to both enjoy and function well in a team. Class B driver's license. Good Swedish, both spoken and written. Meritorious: Experience from forensic psychiatry or related 24/7 operations such as psychiatric inpatient care, SIS, HVB/treatment homes, etc. Experience and interest in, for example, woodworking, crafts, teaching, music, health and sports activities, etc. (see competency profile above).
