Work Duties Your role as Construction and Environment Manager involves leading and developing operations both strategically and operationally together with your team. You are responsible for setting direction, translating goals into practice, and creating conditions for the unit to deliver results. You have overall responsibility for operational results, which includes budget, work environment, and quality of work. In this role, you ensure efficient and lawful public administration and drive the development and improvement of operations. In your role, you collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. You are the responsible officer to the Construction and Environment Municipal Board, and an important part of your assignment is creating well-functioning collaboration between the board and operations through clear communication and professional dialogue. About the Workplace We are now looking for an engaged Construction and Environment Manager who wants to lead and develop our Construction and Environment Unit. The Environment and Building Unit primarily serves the Construction and Environment Municipal Board. The unit has 8 employees and is one of two units within the Community Development Department, which belongs to the Community Development Administration. The construction section handles building permits, preliminary decisions, shore protection, and housing adaptations, while the environment section handles supervision and administration within environmental and health protection, food, and tobacco. The Construction and Environment Manager reports to the Community Development Manager and is part of the administration's management group. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: Relevant university education or equivalent competence Fluent expression in speech and writing Good knowledge of the laws governing public activities and the construction and environment sector, such as the Municipal Act, Administrative Act, Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act, Environmental Code, and Planning and Building Act Experience working in a politically governed organization To succeed in the role, you need to: be willing to take responsibility for leading operations in a clear direction, translate goals into action, and create conditions for employees to deliver results. By planning, prioritizing, and monitoring operational results based on goals, budget, and assignment, you ensure efficient and lawful operations. You create functioning collaboration between operations, the board, and other stakeholders through clear communication, professional relationships, and trustworthy dialogue.
