Are you driven by, and do you have the will to develop and achieve results?
Then you could be our new Director of Education and have overall responsibility for the Children, Education, Culture and Recreation department with approximately 165 employees.
You will lead the work within this area of responsibility with the support of three principals, three vice principals, and two unit managers, as well as support functions. Valdemarsvik Municipality is a small municipality, which means you will be challenged to switch between operational, tactical, and strategic tasks.
The Director of Education holds an important strategic role in the municipal management group where you assume a strategic leadership role with shared responsibility for the whole and contribute to the municipality's continued growth and development. You report directly to the Municipal Director. You work closely with the political leadership. In your role, you are also responsible for preparing and driving various matters for political decision-making.
Challenges within the area of responsibility are mainly related to achieving goals within schools, and a review has been conducted focusing on collaboration between schools and social services. Now awaits joint work based on the analysis that has been completed, and it needs to be done systematically at all levels. The Director of Education will have a decisive and important role in this work.
Another important area of focus is competency supply issues, both regarding the private sector and our own operations related to groups of people far from the labor market. Work is underway to develop a new pre-school and school structure. You are expected to be driving in this work. The municipality also faces economic challenges.
Your Profile
We are looking for an engaged, driven, and collaborative stable leader who has the ability to take a holistic perspective and can make decisions based on analysis and sound reasoning. Your work style is characterized by structure, consistency, and goal-oriented work. Through your leadership style, you create enthusiasm, a good work environment, and results.
You have an academic degree in the field and experience from schools and education. It is meritorious if you have experience with labor market issues, integration work, and culture.
You have many years of experience with strategic management and leadership roles, preferably in politically governed operations. You have experience leading other managers. You should be familiar with regulations within the areas of responsibility and have experience leading and driving quality and development work to the desired results.
We are looking for someone who is confident in your leadership role with excellent collaboration and communication skills. You are clear, unpretentious, and goal-oriented. You have a holistic perspective and are driven by a will to develop and achieve results. You create trust with citizens and employees and have the ability to work with political leadership and with labor organizations. You have an engaging way of leading staff and utilize and develop employees' skills.
You have excellent ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and you have a class B driver's license.
It is important to us that the person we employ has the personal qualities we are looking for. Therefore, we use competency-based interviews and personality tests as part of the recruitment process.
The position is security classified.
Selection and digital interviews will take place on a rolling basis. Interviews on site in Valdemarsvik will be held in mid-August.
