About You
We are looking for someone with academic training in pattern construction and sewing, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. It is meritorious if you have teaching experience, preferably from a folk high school, and knowledge of the textile industry. Knowledge of textile craft techniques and textile history is beneficial for the position.
You are comfortable using digital tools and administrative systems, such as Google Workspace, Word, Excel, Schoolsoft, and tools for plagiarism and AI detection. You are comfortable in a role where you can help showcase and promote the school's activities at trade fairs, open houses, and in meetings with the surrounding community.
As a person, you are initiative-taking and independently drive instruction and development work forward, and you enjoy contributing new ideas to the school's collaborative work. You are stable and confident in your professional role, which means you can handle different situations in the classroom and create a calm and secure learning environment. You have a talent for building trusting relationships with participants, colleagues, and partners.
You have a holistic view of education and see the connection between participants' studies, their personal development, and the school's shared activities. You also have problem-solving skills and can identify challenges in teaching, analyze causes, and find solutions together with colleagues and participants.
If you play an instrument or sing, that is a plus, as music and shared cultural activities are an important part of the school's social environment.
