Project Manager for Local Economy and Short Food Supply Chains

Do you want to work closely with associations, businesses, municipalities, and local initiatives that want to develop their rural areas and contribute to more robust, vibrant, and sustainable local communities? Upplandsbyggd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling is now seeking a full-time substitute project manager for the period August 10, 2026 to June 30, 2027, while one of our project managers is on leave. About Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling is a non-profit organization where voluntary, public, and private forces work together on rural development in the municipalities of Knivsta, Sigtuna, Uppsala, Vallentuna, and Östhammar. This happens through locally-led development using the Leader method, financed by the EU and the municipalities involved, with sustainable development as our guiding star. The organization's office is located in Storvreta, just north of Uppsala, centrally situated in our operational area with good transportation links. The office consists of a small team where we work closely together and support each other to reach our operational goals. What will my responsibilities be? As a project manager/coordinator at Upplandsbygd, you will primarily work on driving and coordinating projects, while also contributing to the processing of project funding within locally-led development. Development initiatives and collaboration A main part of the role involves initiating, driving, and coordinating projects, particularly related to local food and shorter food supply chains. In this role, you build networks and strengthen collaboration between producers, processors, purchasers, municipalities, associations, and other local actors. The work also includes questions about distribution solutions for purchasing small-scale and local food. An important part is making complex issues understandable, creating structure in collaboration processes, and translating ideas into concrete development. Consultation and case management Another part of the role involves providing information and advice to individuals, associations, businesses, and other actors who wish to apply for project funding within locally-led development. You support project ideas from the early stage through application, process project applications, and follow up on approved projects. This includes assessing project ideas based on the organization's strategy and the Board of Agriculture's regulations, maintaining contact with project owners, preparing cases, and contributing to ensuring that projects have good conditions for implementation. Shared office work Because Upplandsbygd is a small organization, you will also be an important part of the office's shared work. This means you can support other parts of the operation as needed, participate in communications, events, follow-up, reporting, and other ongoing tasks. In this full-time position as a project manager at Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling, you will do all of this and become an important hub in the local work. At the same time, you will develop a range of skills and competencies! Upplandsbygd is now seeking a full-time substitute for 12 months starting in September 2026, as one of our project managers will be on leave. If you haven't heard of Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling before Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling is a non-profit organization where non-profit, public, and private actors work together on rural development in the municipalities of Knivsta, Sigtuna, Uppsala, Vallentuna, and Östhammar. This happens through locally-led development using the LEADER method, financed by among others the EU and the municipalities involved, with sustainable development as a guiding star. The organization's office currently consists of five full-time employees and is located in Storvreta, just north of Uppsala, which is centrally located in the operational area with good communications. The organization's current project manager for focus areas aimed at rural development and strengthened community will be on leave for one year, and Upplandsbygd Lokalt Ledd Utveckling is now looking for a substitute for the office. What will my tasks be? As a project manager for the Rural Development and Strengthened Community focus area, you will work closely with associations, businesses, and other local actors who through their activities contribute to increased community, trust, and hope for the future among residents in Upplandsbygd. The assignment is based on a regenerative approach to rural development. Regenerative place development is fundamentally about a simple but important question: How do we develop places so that they not only consume engagement, nature, and resources but actually replenish them? How do we create local communities that strengthen people's participation, build relationships, and increase the place's long-term ability to flourish? The project manager role involves strengthening the capacity of actors who want to develop and transform their activities or local communities in a more socially sustainable direction. You will create favorable conditions for initiatives that promote inclusion, participation, and meaningful activities for more people. By promoting networks and cooperation between actors and providing support and development initiatives, you contribute to strengthening social sustainability and cohesion in the Upplandsbygd area. The project manager role is not just about driving and developing the organization's own projects, but also about working with information and advice as well as processing project applications that come to us from various organizations. You support project owners and strengthen them in their work. This can involve facilitating idea generation, providing advice on project management, and assisting with contacts. It also involves guiding applicants on the requirements and conditions that apply to project applications and ensuring that projects align with the organization's strategy.
