Description The Building and Environmental Unit currently has 19 employees working in environmental, food safety, health protection, building, housing adaptation, alcohol, tobacco, and over-the-counter medications. We are now seeking a substitute colleague for the building group for six months. The work is independent and flexible, and you have control over how you organize your work. We prioritize business development and training for our employees and work closely together based on combined expertise and experience. We also value time for reflection, collaboration, and discussion to ensure quality in our working methods and decisions. Job Responsibilities The position includes processing building permits, preliminary decisions, shoreline protection matters, notification-required cases, and inspections. The work involves responsibility for permit processing, handling shoreline protection exemptions, and supervision. You will also work with advisory services and maintain ongoing contact with citizens and businesses. You will be part of our building permits group but work independently with your cases. You make your own delegated decisions, prepare decision documents for the Community Services Committee, and present your cases there. Information, guidance, and advisory services are a very important part of your work. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is educated in planning and building law or has comparable education, alternatively extensive experience in the field, or other qualifications that the employer deems equivalent. To succeed in this position, you need to be skilled at expressing yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. You are expected to work in a structured manner and drive planned work forward. The authority role requires you to have the ability to make objective and factual assessments, set clear requirements, and make independent decisions. This means you are both trustworthy and professional while also being responsive and service-minded. Significant weight will be placed on personal suitability.
