Ljungskile Folk High School is now seeking a teacher in biology for our Scientific Foundation Year and mathematics for general courses. The Scientific Foundation Year is an education for participants who want to complete prerequisites for further studies in natural science, technology, and healthcare. As a teacher, you will become part of a folk high school where education, community, and active participation of students are central. We are looking for someone who wants to contribute with solid subject knowledge, pedagogical commitment, and an interest in how natural science and mathematics can be made engaging, relevant, and accessible to more people. Duties As a biology teacher in the Scientific Foundation Year, you teach courses in biology 1 and biology 2 and work closely with colleagues on the course. The position includes mathematics teaching at general course level basic, 1, and 2. You are passionate about biology education and want to work with an interdisciplinary approach and contribute to collegial collaboration for subject integration and thematic work, for example in biochemistry. You are a well-organized educator who enjoys process-oriented work and makes use of participants' ideas to shape your biology teaching. It is required that you have a holistic view of natural science and can meet participants who are knowledgeable and interested. The program maintains a high pace and you have considerable pedagogical freedom. As a mathematics teacher in general courses, you meet participants with different experiences, educational backgrounds, and goals. Teaching combines subject knowledge with a relational and student-centered approach where the teacher plays an important role in creating motivation, structure, and faith in the future. Here it is important that you have a well-thought-out approach to adult learners who need support to succeed in mathematics studies. Participants study in mixed-level groups, which requires flexibility, clarity, and the ability to create a welcoming learning environment where different prerequisites are accommodated. You should have a foundation in folk education's educational philosophy and the school's values. Folk high school teacher education is a merit. Proximity to forest and sea makes it easy to get out into nature. Bredfjället is located just behind the school with miles of hiking trails. In the sea, you can swim or kayak. The school receives approximately 280 participants and the dormitory has room for about 90 of them.
