The Sámi Parliament is an elected Sámi parliament and a state agency since 1993. The Sámi Parliament's mission is to promote and develop a living Sámi culture, participate in societal planning, and ensure that Sámi needs are considered. The Language Center works to strengthen the Sámi languages and their speakers, to increase the use of the Sámi languages, and to develop methods for language revitalization. Our primary target group is children and young people. We collaborate with other institutions and organizations in our work. Responsibilities As a Unit Manager, you will lead the Language Center's staff in language-strengthening projects and method development. You work both strategically and operatively. You have results, financial, and operational responsibility for the Sámi Language Center and workplace environment responsibility for the Language Center's staff. Other responsibilities include reporting on operations to the board and committees, handling procurement and agreements such as collaboration agreements, assignment agreements, and the use of copyright-protected material. Additional responsibilities may occur. Travel is included in the position. Your Qualifications We are seeking someone with higher education or university education in relevant areas for the Sámi Language Center, such as project management or languages, or equivalent competence acquired through work experience. You should have experience with project-based work. You have strong communication skills in speech and writing and the ability to compile information and write reports within the field of operations. You must have strong proficiency in one of the Sámi languages in speech and writing, and you should have good knowledge of Sámi society and the Sámi languages through education or work experience. It is an advantage if you speak and write several Sámi languages. It is also advantageous to have experience in staff management and experience working in public administration or politically governed organizations. Personal Qualities We are seeking someone who is: Self-driven and organized Solution-oriented and accustomed to working within set timeframes Has good collaboration skills and experience leading and creating engagement among staff members.
