Employment Information Employment type: Permanent position that may begin with a probationary period Scope: Full-time Number of positions: 1 Application deadline: August 4, 2026 Work location: Eskilstuna Institution/unit/department: Infrastructure and Security Job Responsibilities Mälardalen University is seeking a facilities manager for Campus Eskilstuna in the Infrastructure and Security Department, positioned in the Facilities and Services unit. In this role, you will work to provide an open, safe and sustainable physical and digital educational and research environment for the university's students, employees and collaboration partners. This includes, among other things, supporting teachers in teaching situations, students and other visitors through oversight and monitoring of facility maintenance, security, mail and goods handling, support and troubleshooting of AV equipment in classrooms and meeting rooms, and other technical support, facility booking, procurement of consumables, workplace relocations, cable management, systematic fire safety work and other service functions. Working as a facilities manager means significant responsibility and varied work where no two days are the same. Your work will be supported by case management systems and other digital support systems. The facilities manager role occasionally involves heavy lifting and frequent travel between and within the Västerås and Eskilstuna campuses. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: Completed upper secondary education, Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English, Experience working with various IT systems and being well familiar with MS Office, Ability to take responsibility for planning, organizing and developing work, and working proactively and with good foresight in overseeing the university's facilities, Ability to perform basic carpentry work, replacement of ceiling tiles and fixtures, and some knowledge/understanding of electrical installations, Good physical ability as the work involves recurring heavy lifting, Good teamwork skills combined with the ability to work independently, Meritorious Qualifications For this position, the following are considered meritorious: Experience with similar service work with knowledge of AV technology and digital meeting platforms is meritorious, preferably at a government agency. Meritorious are completed training in boom lifts, scissor lifts, physical work environment, systematic fire safety, and training in AV (audiovisual technology): sound, lighting, image and streaming technology. Personal Qualities In an overall assessment of suitability, weight is also placed on personal qualities. You also need to have high security awareness in your work as well as good judgment and high integrity.
