Job Responsibilities As a nursing assistant on PIVA, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary team where the registered nurse holds supervisory responsibility. The work is varied, developmental, and sometimes challenging, requiring both flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as in a team. Your responsibilities include psychiatric and general patient care, patient conversations, observations, family contacts, and documentation. The role involves contributing to safe and structured care for patients in acute psychiatric states, in line with our shared goal of person-centered care and respectful treatment. The position initially involves work on PIVA (the ward). As you gain experience and following individual assessment, there is an opportunity to also work at PAM (the psychiatric emergency department). Work on both units is characterized by a fast pace, close collaboration, and a clear focus on patient safety. We work closely with other care units within 24-hour psychiatric care in Varberg, which means that if needed, you may also work full or partial shifts at other departments. In this role, you are expected to contribute to the unit's continued development, including strengthening patient participation, contributing to a safe care environment, and actively participating in the team's shared work and reflection. About Us PIVA is part of adult psychiatry's 24-hour care in Varberg. PIVA stands for Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and we have nine care beds. The unit also includes our psychiatric emergency department (PAM). Our overarching goal, which we've jointly developed in the work group, is: "To assess and treat acute psychiatric states in a safe and secure manner, using person-centered care and respectful treatment." We work continuously toward this goal and conduct active development work, including involving relatives, providing patient opportunities for conversation, and increasing safety both on the ward and at the emergency department. We work closely with other units within 24-hour care in Varberg as well as with ambulance services, police, social services, and other healthcare partners. Most of our staff work in rotating shifts (day/evening/night) with reduced working hours of 34 hours per week. We value an open and supportive work environment and offer reflection time at the end of each shift. In addition, regular group nursing supervision is provided for both registered nurses and nursing assistants. We're looking for a nursing assistant who enjoys working in teams, can stay calm in difficult situations, and has a genuine interest in meeting people in vulnerable and challenging life situations. You want to contribute to the unit's development and be an active part in moving PIVA forward. Qualifications We're looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant. If you have experience working in psychiatry and/or education focused on psychiatry, we see that as a merit. It's also an advantage if you have knowledge of both psychiatric conditions and basic general medical conditions. As a person, you are proactive, self-directed, and take responsibility for your tasks. You are flexible and adapt easily to change, and you maintain calm and focus even in pressured situations. You have strong collaboration skills, are attentive and communicative, and contribute to a positive work environment. You are service-oriented, have respectful demeanor and a willingness to help others. You communicate clearly and adapt your communication to the situation and audience.
