About the ICU The Intensive Care Unit is part of the Department of Anesthesia, Surgery, and Intensive Care. The unit is of a general nature, where we provide intensive care from multiple departments including medicine, surgery, and psychiatry. We provide postoperative care from multiple departments such as surgery, orthopedics, urology, medicine, and dentistry. At our day surgery unit, we receive outpatient patients before and after planned surgery/examinations. We have approximately 70 intensive care nurses and nursing assistants working with us. Description We offer stimulating work with great variety in patients, from critically ill to less ill. As a nursing assistant in the ICU, you are an important part of the team around the patient, together with the responsible intensive care nurse and physician. Within the unit, several active development projects are underway in interprofessional groups consisting of nursing assistants, nurses, and physicians, to develop quality and patient safety in our unit. Kungälvs sjukhus is a trauma receiving hospital, which means we invest in internal training and competence development in this area. Job Responsibilities Typical duties of a nursing assistant in an intensive care unit. Your introduction is individual and adapted for you in consultation with your supervisor and the unit manager. Who Are We Looking For? We are looking for you who is a trained nursing assistant and who enjoys working in a team but also independently. You enjoy challenges, have the ability to be flexible, and can handle stressful situations in a calm and methodical manner. We place great emphasis on good teamwork and good treatment of both patients and colleagues. It is advantageous if you have work experience from anesthesia, surgery, and/or intensive care or from acute care. Protected Professional Title for Nursing Assistants As of July 1, 2023, nursing assistant is a protected professional title. This means that you will need certification from Socialstyrelsen to use the title nursing assistant in healthcare and social care.
