The Adapted School in Ulricehamns Municipality, which is part of the Tingsholm school area, offers students with intellectual disabilities an education carefully tailored to each student's individual circumstances - from primary through upper secondary and adult level. The activities follow the same structure as regular primary school while also encompassing specialized subject areas that promote students' motor skills, communication, daily living activities, aesthetic development, and perception of reality. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Your task is to plan, lead, and develop instruction for students based on the adapted school's subjects and subject areas, with focus on each student's individual abilities, needs, and goals. You create good conditions for learning by using adapted working methods and inclusive pedagogy aligned with the curriculum's intentions regarding harmonious development, participation, and exploratory learning. You also contribute to overall pedagogical development work and collaborate closely with lead teachers, the principal, and other educators to strengthen teaching quality and create a cohesive, safe, and stimulating learning environment. Part of your position involves mentoring and supporting colleagues in language, writing, and reading development. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who is a licensed special education teacher with experience working in early childhood education, school, or adapted school. It is an advantage if you are trained as a special education teacher with a focus on language, writing, and reading development, and if you have knowledge of sign language and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). Strong competence in using digital aids is also a valuable asset. It is also beneficial if you have experience working with students with neurodevelopmental disabilities, particularly autism, as well as students with visual and hearing impairments. In your professional role, you work in a structured manner and maintain a flexible approach to changing needs and situations. You have good collaboration skills and excel at building trusting relationships with both students and colleagues. To thrive in this role, you need to be calm and stable, even in situations that may be demanding or challenging. You meet students and those around you with composure, clarity, and empathy, and you have a solution-focused approach that contributes to a positive work environment.
