Social Worker in Preschool Now there is an opportunity to apply for an exciting new position in Ale Municipality! We are looking for someone who wants to work in preschools with socially-focused work and early interventions. Research shows that early interventions to promote psychosocial health in preschools can lead to improved school results and reduce social disadvantage in the long term. Based on the new Social Services Act, Ale Municipality is now expanding its preventive work. As part of this, the social services and education departments are jointly introducing the new position of social worker in preschool. The work aims to strengthen the conditions for children's development and to identify and meet needs at an early stage. The preschool and social services shall, based on their respective mandates and competencies, contribute to and coordinate support measures with the aim of improving children's present and future living conditions. The actors shall cooperate closely, ensure effective coordination of measures, and complement each other in preventive work. About the Workplace Welcome to the Family Support Unit – an engaged and experienced work team that together makes a difference for children, young people, and their families. We are responsible for open care services within individual and family care for children and young people aged 0–21 years and their families – both needs-assessed services and service offerings. Our employees are deeply committed to developing the operation so that it meets the residents' needs, in line with the new Social Services Act. We also operate two family centers and a MiniMaria clinic in collaboration with the region. The unit also has a well-established school social platform, which is now being developed further into school social teams. Together with the Child and Family Unit, we work to ensure that children and young people can continue to live in their families of origin, and if needed, receive qualified support and treatment close to home. The position will organizationally belong to the Family Support Unit but will work primarily in social roles at two of the municipality's preschools in close collaboration with the principal and special education teacher. Support will be available from other colleagues at the Family Support Unit. A supervisor from the Family Support Unit will also be available to provide support in work with children and parents. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain trusting relationships with children, guardians, and staff Offer and conduct advisory conversations with guardians when needed Contribute social worker and social services expertise in preventive work, based on your professional role in close collaboration with the preschools' principal and special education teacher Support preschool staff with knowledge about the social services mandate and interventions Spread knowledge and create understanding for the intentions of the new Social Services Act Collaborate with preschool staff and other actors to early identify families' needs for support Participate in appropriate contexts within the Family Support Unit to serve as a bridge between preschool and social services Qualifications You are educated as a social worker or have a higher education qualification that the employer deems equivalent. You should have experience with psychosocial work with younger children and their families. You may have experience working in preschool and school, family centers, etc. We would like you to have experience with the social services' official authority. It is meritorious if you have parent education and methods directed at younger children, further education in parent support methods, such as ABC, Martemeo, or the trust circle. We believe in close collaboration with multiple actors to prevent and promote work around the best interests of the child. To succeed in this role, you need to have great empathetic ability, enjoy challenges, and are experienced in working independently and handling complex situations. We place great importance on personal suitability.
