The Children and Education Department in Vimmerby municipality is responsible for all educational activities, from preschool to university, and is also responsible for Swedish for immigrants (sfi) and civic orientation for newly arrived residents. WORK DUTIES As a counselor, you are part of the school's student health team, whose main task is health promotion and preventive work. You structure and coordinate social interventions around students with various school difficulties. In your role as counselor, you also guide teachers in psychosocial matters, work with students at individual and group levels, and provide support conversations with students. Based on the student's needs, you collaborate with teachers, guardians and others in the student health team as well as with social services, child and youth psychiatry and others. You also lead the school's equal treatment team where you work preventively together with others in the group, and sometimes you assist with acute interventions. Examples of work duties: • Health promotion and preventive work at group level • Conduct support, motivation, crisis and conflict conversations as well as investigative, advisory and processing conversations with individual students • Initiate and participate in network work around students • Map and assess the social situation outside school for individual students • Work with groups in case of acute needs and for preventive purposes • Responsibility for revising and updating the school's action plan regarding sexuality, consent and relationships • Responsibility for monitoring the school's equal treatment work • Provide professional guidance and consultation to school staff • Contribute a social and psychosocial perspective to the development of educational activities QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker. If you have experience working in the school environment or experience with similar work, we see that as a merit. As a school counselor with us, you find it easy to collaborate but can also plan and prioritize your work and perform it independently. You have an outward-facing and inclusive approach and create good relationships with educators, students and guardians. You have a respectful approach to people's differences and share society's and the school's values, including regarding inclusion. Furthermore, you are comfortable working with both small and larger groups of students and staff to meet the requirements of the school law regarding preventive and health-promoting work. You keep up with current research and base your development work on an analysis of previous results. Furthermore, you must master the Swedish language in a way that allows you to communicate with students, relatives and other staff, and can document in writing what the activities require.
