When an emergency call comes in to the ambulance station, staff must be in the vehicle within 90 seconds, and you don't know which patient you'll meet beforehand. Being prepared for all patients and adapting to each situation requires the ability to change pace and adjust quickly to best meet the patient and their family's needs, as well as gathering information and making well-founded medical decisions. Prehospital care requires broad expertise to provide good, efficient, and safe immediate care to all citizens. This can involve prehospital care for patients of all ages who may have breathing and circulatory issues, be unconscious, in pain, psychologically unstable, or be delivering mothers. Patients are assessed, examined, and treated by ambulance personnel on site and/or during transport to a healthcare facility. Ambulance services also include transporting patients between healthcare facilities locally, regionally, and nationally. The work involves close collaboration with your immediate colleague in the ambulance. There is also significant collaboration with other functions. Nurses and ambulance personnel work in various interprofessional teams with doctors and other important societal actors. The position is based in Vimmerby, but work shifts may also occur at other stations. The Vimmerby ambulance operates 24 hours a day, which means you work day/evening/night/weekend shifts. About You We are looking for a licensed nurse with experience in patient-centered work and interest in ambulance services. It is advantageous if you have experience in prehospital care or emergency care. We welcome competence in the following training concepts: D-HLR, AHLR, B-HLR, prehospital care management, ambulance techniques, AMLS, PHTLS, and RETTS. If any of these certifications are missing, you will receive them during your introduction. You are an experienced driver and hold a category B driver's license. A category C/C1 driver's license will be a requirement for employment, and if you don't have it already, the license will be funded. The profession requires good physical fitness. To be employed as a nurse in ambulance services, you must complete and pass fitness tests. These fitness tests must also be completed and passed every other year. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and ability to work collaboratively. Your Future Workplace Kalmar County consists of 12 municipalities with approximately 247,000 inhabitants; the service area covers an area of 11,694 square kilometers. The county includes rural areas, countryside, cities, lakes, islands, and archipelago. The primary task of ambulance services is to meet the population's need for ambulance care. The goal of ambulance services is to assess the patient, treat if necessary, and refer to the appropriate level of care. Within ambulance services, there are resources including emergency ambulances, non-emergency ambulances, and a bus that transports patients between the county's hospitals and the Regional Hospital in Linköping. Ambulance services in Region Kalmar County has over 200 employees. During the summer season, the population increases due to tourists and events in the county. The ambulance station in Vimmerby belongs to the northern management area, which also includes Hultsfred, Virserum, Västervik, and Gamleby. In the northern management area, there are two department heads who share leadership. Both managers have joint responsibility for managing the operations, but all employees have a direct manager for dialogue regarding employee meetings, salary reviews, and other matters. Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an acute care hospital with specialist care, maternity services, and postpartum care. Over 2,300 people work here to provide good care and high patient safety to county residents.
