Right now, the Water and Wastewater Pipe Network department within the Water and Wastewater Unit is growing, and we're looking for more pipe network technicians who want to be part of developing and securing the future water and wastewater supply in Säffle and Åmål. About the operations The Water and Wastewater Pipe Network is a department within the Water and Wastewater Unit that currently consists of a unit manager, a water and wastewater engineer, a measurement engineer, and four pipe network technicians distributed across two work teams – one in Säffle and one in Åmål. We work in close collaboration with our colleagues in water processes, streets and parks, and recreation units, as well as contractors, where together we build, maintain, and develop the various facilities and infrastructure of our cities and towns. Today, the operations are responsible for approximately 200 kilometers of water and wastewater pipe networks in our cities and towns. To meet future needs, secure water supply, and adapt infrastructure to a changing climate, the renovation rate of our pipe networks will triple by 2032. That's why we're now looking for more colleagues to join our growing team. Job responsibilities The tasks as a pipe network technician are varied in scope, location, and design. As a pipe network technician, you work together with group leaders and colleagues on both major investment projects and maintenance and operations work within our water and wastewater pipe networks. The tasks are varied and include, among other things: Excavation, pipe laying, and earthwork Maintenance and operations measures in water and wastewater pipe networks For smaller assignments, such as operational measures, planning the practical implementation of the assignment given to the work team in question, which includes: Ordering materials Preparing and performing simple technical drawings Ordering cable locating services and coordinating practical implementation Investigations in water and wastewater networks, such as tracing, checking connection conditions, and leak detection Documentation in digital mapping systems The positions are based in Säffle and Åmål respectively, but work is performed in both municipalities. As part of this position, you will also join the water and wastewater pipe network's emergency response team, which means you will be on call approximately every 4–5 weeks and, together with colleagues, be responsible for performing emergency measures in the water and wastewater pipe networks of Säffle and Åmål municipalities even outside regular working hours. Who are you? We are looking for someone who is driven, responsible, and enjoys working practically with others. You take initiative, work carefully, and want to deliver high-quality work. The Water and Wastewater Unit's operations are classified as critical infrastructure and are subject to strict legal requirements, which means the work requires great responsibility and attention to detail. Since we work with both wastewater and drinking water, high standards for hygiene, organization, and precision are also required in daily work. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
