The Community Development Administration plays a key role in the municipality's development and consists of three collaborating departments: Citizen Services, Strategic Community Planning, and the Technical Department. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We are looking for a committed and strategic Sanitation Manager who wants to continue taking a holistic approach, driving development, and shaping Åre Municipality's future sustainable waste management. As Sanitation Manager, you hold overall responsibility for the municipality's sanitation operations—from collection and logistics to developing sustainable work methods and services. You will lead the operations both strategically and operationally and ensure that we meet future requirements for environment, efficiency, and service. The operations are largely conducted through procurement contracts, and you will lead a team of 7 employees whose professions are engineers and case officers. Main areas of responsibility: • Lead, develop, and follow up on sanitation operations • Manage procurements, budget, personnel, results, and operational planning • Drive development and change initiatives related to sustainability and digitalization • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations within waste and environmental legislation • Develop favorable collaborations with both internal and external stakeholders • Be a clear leader who engages and develops employees • Present matters in political board meetings Being a manager at Åre Municipality means working in an organization that stands for responsibility, trust, and development. You will be part of a management team for the Technical Department and a management group for a consortium of 8 municipalities in the region and report to the Technical Manager. QUALIFICATIONS • Relevant education and/or equivalent experience • Longer experience with leadership and personnel responsibility is advantageous • Experience driving change and development • Experience working both operatively and strategically • Experience from the public sector is advantageous but not required • Knowledge of waste issues, environmental legislation, or similar areas is advantageous • Experience with supplier and contract follow-up • Driver's license is required As a person, you are an unpretentious, communicative leader with a strong ability to create commitment through trust. You lead by example, show genuine interest in those you lead, and maintain strong presence. You are action-oriented, follow up, and can set both short and long-term goals at individual and group levels. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. Type of employment: Permanent position. Duration: Start date: 2026-11-02 or by agreement.
