Storuman Municipality is now seeking an engaged and strategic principal for Vallnässkolan Grades 4–6 who, in addition to your principal duties, will also take on the role of the municipality's Student Wellness Director. This position is part of our initiative to develop and strengthen leadership in Storuman Municipality's schools. By creating more reasonable assignments with fewer students and staff members per manager, we provide better conditions for close and engaged pedagogical leadership focused on student learning and development. At the same time, we strengthen support for operations and create a more sustainable and attractive work situation – where our leaders are given good opportunities to succeed in their roles. About the Workplace Vallnässkolan Grades 4–6 is characterized by strong and well-functioning work for safety, well-being, and positive relationships. Students meet clear, warm, and supportive leadership where everyone is seen and where the school's common approach permeates the entire operation. The school actively works to create participation, community, and a positive learning environment – something that is also confirmed by the fact that both management and staff to a large extent conduct successful and systematic work for a positive school climate. The assignment includes close cooperation with the principal for grades 7–9, where operations are located on the same school grounds with several shared facilities. This creates good opportunities for daily dialogue, collegial support, and shared responsibility for school development. Together, you will have a strong platform for driving school development, exchanging ideas, and meeting everyday challenges with alignment and strength. Job Responsibilities As principal of Vallnässkolan Grades 4–6, you are responsible for pedagogical activities with a focus on high goal achievement, safety, and development for all students. You lead and organize daily operations and ensure that instruction is based on scientific evidence and proven experience. In your role as Student Wellness Director, you have overall responsibility for leading, coordinating, and developing the municipality's comprehensive student wellness work. You work strategically to strengthen preventive and health-promoting efforts throughout the entire education system and ensure that student wellness is an integrated part of the school's core mission. Lead, develop, and monitor operations against established goals Manage personnel, work environment, and budget within your areas Drive systematic quality improvement work Lead and develop pedagogical work with a focus on increased goal achievement Coordinate and develop student wellness work across the municipality Ensure that student wellness operates with a preventive and health-promoting approach Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders Qualifications We are looking for you who: Have teacher training. It is an advantage if you have also completed the state principal training. Have experience working as a principal or other leadership position in educational operations Have good knowledge of governing documents and current legislation in the school field Have experience with student wellness work, related legislation, and a good understanding of its various professions Are a clear and confident leader with the ability to create engagement and participation You are a strategic and development-oriented leader who sees the whole picture and has the ability to translate visions into practical work. You are communicative, relationship-building, and have a genuine interest in student learning, development, and well-being.
