An opportunity for you with a keen news sense and a desire to contribute to an accurate portrayal of Swedish development assistance to become our third press secretary. About the role Interest in Swedish development assistance is high among journalists, and Sida is expanding the press service from two to three positions. The role is important: as a press secretary, you contribute to strategic media work with proactivity and good service to journalists. You work independently in close collaboration with two colleagues in the press service, other communicators in the editorial team and the unit, as well as the agency's subject matter experts. The work requires a good understanding of Sida's mission and close collaboration with the Director General's office and management team. You report to the Communications Manager. The unit's joint communication work aims to provide an accurate and fair picture of Swedish development assistance, contribute to increased transparency about how it is implemented and what results it leads to. Strategic work with Sida's media relations is an important part; producing content and supporting managers and employees who act as spokespersons in the media. The work is coordinated with content production for the web, social media and internal communication, and the ambition is to use the content produced for more than one channel. You will work at our office in Rissne, Sundbyberg. Key responsibilities - Proactively identify news within Sida's operations, write press releases, opinion pieces and content for social media on the issues you work with, and pitch Sida's expertise to relevant media - Reactive work following up on news or inquiries from the media - Produce talking points, messages and formulate frequently asked questions and answers - Media training - Crisis management - Environmental monitoring - Media analysis by analyzing and following up on media coverage - When needed, coordinate press work with other actors within the foreign service, for example the Ministry for Foreign Affairs What we offer We offer a workplace with good opportunities for development and a work environment characterized by openness and diversity. Qualifications Education Academic education in journalism corresponding to at least three years of full-time studies or other relevant education combined with relevant professional experience. Languages Fluent Swedish, spoken and written Very good English skills, spoken and written, and it is valuable to have additional language skills Work experience and knowledge Experience working as a press secretary or as a journalist in a newsroom with media contacts Experience in strategic communication and crisis communication from an organization, company, public agency or consulting firm Fast writer with very good stylistic ability Ability to find the news angle and sell it to the media Functional competencies/skills: For this role, you need to: - Be able to handle stress, uncertainty and risks - Be good at collaboration and building trustful relationships - Be able to translate ideas into concrete action - Be able to handle resistance, be flexible and solution-focused - Communicate strategically to influence, negotiate and mobilize - Be able to contribute to and absorb knowledge and evidence - Be able to translate experiences and lessons into action For this role, it is a merit if you have: - Knowledge of international development cooperation and development assistance organizations - Experience working in a politically governed activity and context - Experience working in an integrated way with traditional and social media - Knowledge of publishing on own websites and social media channels - Knowledge of the state's core values principles, the principle of public access to information, and the role of a civil servant - An established network within the media Good to know The position is a permanent employment with start date by agreement.
