The postdoctor will work on research projects investigating the importance of parental skills for children's education, health, and life prospects. The position starts, by agreement, in autumn 2026. As a postdoctor, you will work closely with the project team and handle extensive Swedish register data on skills, education, and health. Responsibilities include data acquisition, construction, and processing, as well as conducting econometric analyses, primarily in Stata. The goal is to produce scientific publications in collaboration with the research group. There is also room to conduct your own research projects. The position does not include teaching. IFAU is a state research institute with approximately 50 employees, located in Uppsala. IFAU evaluates labor market, education, and social insurance policies and conducts policy-relevant research in labor market economics. We maintain close collaboration with the Department of Economics at Uppsala University and offer a stimulating research environment with a creative and collegial working style. Qualification Requirements • PhD in economics, completed before the start date but expected no later than October 15, 2026. The degree must have been obtained within the past three years. • Strong research potential. • Documented ability to conduct empirical research in labor market economics using administrative data. • Excellent ability to express yourself in spoken and written English. • Excellent collaboration skills. Meritorious Qualifications • Good ability to express yourself in spoken and written Swedish. • Experience working with Swedish administrative registers, particularly in health, education, and skills, and good knowledge of Swedish institutional conditions.
