RESPONSIBILITIES As manager of the Planning and Building Department, you will have the opportunity to combine strategic leadership with real community development. We have great variety in exciting projects and a unique location as a border municipality, which shapes your role as Planning and Building Manager. The Planning and Building Department plays a central role in the municipality's development. The department is responsible for everything from detailed planning and building permits to mapping, surveying, and GIS matters. Here, long-term community planning, sustainable development, and service to residents come together in a shared mission: to create a good built environment for today's and future Strömstad. The department consists of three units with approximately 20 competent and efficient employees. The Building Unit works with building permits, supervision, and advice in accordance with the Planning and Building Act. The unit is an important partner for both residents and the business community and contributes to ensuring that development takes place with legal certainty, quality, service, safety, and sustainability in focus. The Planning Unit drives the municipality's work with detailed plans and physical planning. Here, the homes, business areas, and attractive environments of the future are shaped while important nature and cultural values are preserved. The Mapping, Surveying, and GIS Unit creates the conditions for smart and efficient community development through modern mapping and GIS solutions, surveying, and geographic information that support the entire municipality's operations. As department manager, you lead the department's operations with responsibility for personnel, budget, and operational development. You lay the foundation for a good work environment and create direction, commitment, and good conditions for your employees to succeed in their assignments. You work both strategically and operatively to develop the operations and ensure high quality, legal certainty, good service, and efficient working methods. The role involves many contact points where you collaborate closely with residents, businesses, authorities, and other parts of the municipality. You also participate in the work of the Environment and Building Committee and contribute knowledge and material to political processes. As part of the Environment and Building Administration's management group, you report to the Administration Manager and are involved in driving the administration's joint development forward. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you as a confident, inspiring, and development-oriented leader with a strong commitment to community development and sustainable development. You have the ability to create structure, build trustful relationships, and lead operations through both change and collaboration. With a strategic perspective and attentive leadership, you create engagement and good conditions for your employees to succeed. You have relevant academic education in, for example, urban development, physical planning, law, engineering, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and we see that you have several years of experience in management and leadership work within public operations, as well as a good understanding of planning and building processes and the exercise of authority. You must also have experience working in management group work with the big picture in focus. The role requires very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as a category B driver's license.
