Personal assistant to an engaged and goal-oriented client — humble and supportive We are seeking a warm, present, and humble personal assistant for an adult client (40 years old) who, following a serious stroke in 2023, has a newly acquired physical disability but retained cognitive ability. The client is actively engaged in rehabilitation and wants to continue living a rich and meaningful life — she values self-determination, integrity, and participation highly. You will be a trusted presence who helps with personal care, mobility, assistance with household activities, communication support in rehabilitation work, and coordination during visits from loved ones, including her daughter who visits occasionally. The client has some function in one hand, neck, and partial function in all extremities, and needs support in many daily activities — from dressing and undressing, positioning and transfers to cooking, hygiene, supervision, and practical arrangements. Beyond basic care tasks, we are looking for someone who can be proactive and engage in the client's interests — culture, gardening/allotment, social issues, and activities in the local area — Communication and patience are essential — the client needs a humble person who listens, can interpret needs, and simultaneously take initiative when the situation requires it. Experience in personal assistance or similar care work is a merit, but most important is personal chemistry, empathy, and respect for self-determination. We would like to see that you have excellent Swedish language skills to serve as the client's linguistic interpreter and source of security. If you share an interest in culture, gardening, or social issues, that is a plus but not a requirement — what matters most is that you are present, responsible, patient, and able to build trust. Flexible and proactive — willing to suggest activities and solutions that promote the client's recovery. Respect for self-determination and integrity. Good stress tolerance and patience in situations that may be emotionally demanding. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and chemistry. Please include references and, if possible, a current criminal record check. Work hours: daytime, evenings, nights (sleeping shifts), and weekends. It works well to combine with studies or another part-time job. Employment: The position is an hourly assignment that can lead to the possibility of fixed scheduled shifts if everything works well and feels right for all parties. A criminal record check is required to be eligible for employment. There are full-time, part-time, and hourly positions available. Training/orientation will be provided on-site.
