Description of the role as Matilda's Personal Assistant Matilda is a 25-year-old woman with Rett Syndrome who lives in her own apartment with round-the-clock assistance (with overnight wait-time support). Matilda enjoys music, reading, movies, and spending time with family and friends. She is generally an active person who likes exercise, dancing, swimming, traveling, and attending concerts, but due to pain issues, she sometimes needs support at a slower pace. You will become part of a wonderful team of assistants who will welcome you into the group and provide you with safe and secure onboarding/training. As Matilda's personal assistant, you will be an important part of her daily life. You will: Assist with all ADL (personal hygiene, dressing and undressing, meals, and more). Support her in activities and with certain mobility needs. Read her body language and facial expressions (as she is non-verbal but has much to communicate). Ensure she receives physical, intellectual, and social stimulation for a safe and meaningful daily life. Be creative and flexible in finding solutions for her daily needs. Participate in her large friend group, where friends and assistants typically meet several times a week to do things together. Matilda can sometimes, due to her pain issues, display challenging behaviors. Therefore, it is an advantage if you have previous experience with situations requiring a calm and professional approach.
