About Us Östbergskolan is a grades 4-9 school with approximately 420 students and an accompanying after-school program, located centrally in Östersund on Frösön. We have easy access to outdoor activities and nature, and are within cycling distance to Östersund's city center and other neighborhoods. Here, active outdoor life is combined with engaging work, with proximity to jobs, friends, and school. Östersund is also an expansive university city where research and business develop together, while new neighborhoods are being created and offerings are broadening. Your New Role As a special education teacher/specialized educator/teacher in this position, you will work together with another teacher on pedagogical development based on our study yard, primarily with students in need of additional support. You will work within the entire school's grades 4-9 structure, mainly from upper secondary level (grades 7-9). You will be part of the school's EHT team, provide training to staff, and work actively with students, guardians, subject teachers, and coordinators in areas such as assessments, student support meetings, individual assistance, and collaboration. You will help develop intervention plans and provide instruction. We believe that relationship-building work is important and place great value on finding the right person for the study yard rather than solely focusing on school credentials. Currently on the school's team, two special education teachers work in separate roles with the middle and upper grades. The school has two school social workers who work as attendance coaches close to students and other members of the student support team, which you will become part of. Qualifications Requirements • Qualified Special Education Teacher/Specialized Educator/Teacher • Strong knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written • Excellent relationship-building skills • Strong collaboration ability Meritorious • Good knowledge of digital work and computer skills • Previous teaching experience • Experience working with upper elementary/middle school students • Experience working with students struggling to meet academic achievement goals We Are Looking for You! You express a positive attitude toward your work, the activities, and the organization. You act in accordance with decisions made, activity plans, goals, policies, and guidelines. You have in-depth knowledge of mathematics learning and/or reading and writing instruction. We prefer that you are guided by goal- and results-oriented thinking in prioritization, planning, and action. You have the ability to adjust your focus when goals and/or conditions change.
