We are seeking a female personal assistant for a cheerful, curious, and active 5-year-old boy with autism. The boy is currently non-verbal but is in a strong and exciting developmental phase. He is taking new steps in his communication, interaction, and ability to express himself. As an assistant, you will be an important part of his daily life and be present when small progress becomes big milestones. He lives with his family in Södra Sandby and loves movement, play, and activity. He needs a trusted adult who can match his pace, create calm during transitions, and help him feel secure in various daily situations. This is work for someone who wants to build relationships over time, be present during play and daily routines, and help a child gain better opportunities to understand, communicate, and develop. About the Position The position is approximately 60% or slightly more. Working hours are primarily weekdays 2:00 PM–6:00 PM and every other Sunday 12:00 PM–4:00 PM. The boy attends preschool on weekdays from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. Your Responsibilities As a personal assistant, you will be a trusted support in the boy's daily life. You help him create structure, understand what will happen, and feel secure in different situations. Your responsibilities include supporting him with routines and transitions, participating in play and activities both indoors and outdoors, creating calm in new situations, and helping with communication and social interaction. We would appreciate your willingness to learn and work with Hanen-inspired communication strategies, including methods from More Than Words. This involves, for example, following the child's initiative, observing and waiting for his signals, creating natural opportunities for interaction in play and daily life, and supporting him in expressing needs, desires, and feelings. You don't need to know this from the start. The most important thing is that you are curious, attentive, and willing to get to know the boy on his terms. We Are Looking for Someone Who Is You are a woman who is confident, calm, and patient. You need to be active and enjoy being in movement, since the boy has lots of energy and loves play and activity. You are playful, present, and responsible, and feel comfortable working closely with children. You are also attentive, good at reading small signals, and can create predictability in daily routines. Experience with autism or working with children is a plus, but personal suitability is most important.
