Trelleborg Parish is seeking a new crematory manager! The crematory operations are part of the Cemetery Administration, which is responsible for burial services. The goal of burial services is to meet residents, grave rights holders, and families in a respectful and helpful manner in connection with deaths and visits to the cemeteries. Our experienced crematory manager is now retiring, and we are therefore seeking a replacement. You will work administratively for most of your time, but will personally conduct cremations approximately every 6th week. Two crematory technicians also work at the crematory with cremation operations. Primary duties and work areas - Receive and administer burial and cremation orders - Receive families and show grave sites for urns and caskets, and explain different burial customs - Maintain contact with stone cutters so that stones for ash graves and plaques for ash grave areas are submitted for engraving - Maintain contact with funeral homes, the Tax Agency, the County Administrative Board, etc. - Check ash receipts and ensure that all ashes are buried within one year after cremation - Create cremation documents with accompanying cremation schedules - Issue urns to funeral homes, parishes, and private individuals - Overall responsibility for maintenance, supervision, and upkeep of the entire cremation facility, including process equipment and cooling systems - Prepare and submit various annual reports such as the cooling system's service and leak detection report as well as an environmental report on crematory operations - Receive the municipality's environmental unit for supervision visits and handle any necessary actions - Order service, repair work, and manage metal recycling from the crematory - Ensure that required measurements are performed such as noise emission measurements, dust measurements, and mercury measurements - Create cost and decision-making documentation for major maintenance and purchases related to the crematory, but without budget or financial responsibility - Coordinate personnel in the crematory and cremate according to a rotating schedule, but without personnel and work environment responsibility - Perform supervision and maintenance of properties - Provide support as needed as a burial verger or pallbearer - Perform other common tasks within the administration of burial services Responsibility and authority Overall responsibility for maintenance, supervision, and upkeep of the crematory as well as maintenance of process equipment and cooling systems. Degree of independence and own initiative The crematory manager reports to the Cemetery and Property Manager. The role requires a high degree of independence and own initiative. You have great freedom to organize your workday as you wish. Cooperation skills and cooperation areas internally and externally Very good cooperation skills are required both internally, with private individuals, and with cooperation partners. Desirable and meritorious are knowledge of troubleshooting and correcting deficiencies, ability to discuss and find solutions together with external repair technicians, general machine knowledge, and understanding of how crematories function and are constructed. Formal education/qualifications Minimum requirements for the position are a Class B driver's license, secondary education, and training in crematory technology level 1-2. Level 3 is meritorious. Language requirements are Swedish and English. IT competence/special programs The position requires knowledge and ability to learn to work in commonly used computer systems and programs. Difficulties and challenges in the role The crematory furnace is custom-built and therefore requires significant technical skill. Development opportunities There are opportunities for development within the role such as participation in networks, conferences, and external training in leadership and cremations.
