Jönköping Parish, Jönköping About Us Swedish Church Jönköping, in the Diocese of Växjö, is a dynamic and growing parish that reflects the city's development and change. With an annual population growth of almost 2,000 residents and a municipality aiming to reach 200,000 inhabitants in the long term, our parish is constantly evolving. This development affects not only our residents but also businesses, civic organizations, and the Christian parish's role in the city. We operate in a context where our ten churches are organized into three geographical parish areas, and we run preschools, family counseling, and conversation and diaconal services. We are present at the hospital, the university, and within the correctional system, and we constantly seek new creative ways to be present where people live their lives. Our funeral services are active in four service areas. "Sing to the Lord's glory, sing a new song." At Ekhagskyrkan, music is a natural part of the church's life and community. Ekhagskyrkan is located in a neighborhood where people of different ages and life situations meet. Through worship services, ecclesiastical rites, choirs, and concerts, we want to create spaces for both worship, joy, comfort, and participation. Ekhagskyrkan is part of Jönköping Parish and collaborates with other churches and activities in the parish. Here are engaged staff members and volunteers who together want to develop the church's life for the future. About the Calling and Mission As cantor at Ekhagskyrkan, you will have a central role in developing and sustaining the parish's musical life. Here you will: take responsibility for and participate in worship services and ecclesiastical rites lead and develop choir activities for different ages; we currently have a children's choir, a women's choir, and a church choir inspire people to participate through music and song contribute to creating worship services where music and liturgy work together in a living way plan and carry out concerts and musical arrangements collaborate with other staff members and volunteers in the parish's work be part of developing new meeting places where music becomes a natural way into the church community You will also serve at ecclesiastical rites and may collaborate with other church musicians within Jönköping Parish. Who We Are Looking For You are trained as a cantor or have other education deemed equivalent according to the Swedish Church's requirements. You have broad musical competence and feel at home in Swedish Church worship life. You see music's potential to create community, convey faith, and build relationships. You appreciate meeting people of different ages and life situations and want to help develop a musical life that is open, inclusive, and engaging. As a Person you meet people with warmth and attentiveness you are creative and resourceful you enjoy collaborating and building relationships you have the ability to inspire and engage both volunteers and participants you work independently and in a structured manner but can also work as part of a team with other staff you want to contribute to a good work environment and a vibrant parish We place great importance on personal suitability.
