Dog Trainer - Swedish Armed Forces Dog Service Unit The Air Combat School (LSS) is the Swedish Air Force's shared center of excellence for training and development. LSS plays a crucial role in the development and growth of the future air force. About the Unit The Swedish Armed Forces Dog Service Unit (FHTE) is part of LSS and is responsible for the production, monitoring, and coordination of service dogs in the Swedish Armed Forces "from breeding planning to operational teams." FHTE is tasked with developing dog services and providing the Swedish Armed Forces' combat units with service dogs that meet the Armed Forces' high standards. Service dogs are trained alongside dog handlers for assignments in the Swedish Armed Forces, both nationally and internationally. We are now seeking a dog trainer to be based in Märsta in Sigtuna. About the Position The work is conducted largely outdoors and is physically demanding, requiring good physical fitness and mental endurance. Evening and weekend work occurs. To succeed in this role, you need strong knowledge of various training methods and the ability to adapt these to each individual dog's needs. Key Responsibilities Train service dogs (patrol and/or detection dogs) Responsible for daily care and maintenance of service dogs Document training in IT environments Plan, conduct, and follow up on own training work Qualifications At least 3 years of verified training experience within military units, service, working dog context, or documented competition experience at least at beginner level or equivalent Category B driving license (manual transmission) Good proficiency working in IT environments Strong ability to communicate in speech and writing in Swedish and English Personal Qualities We are looking for someone who is collaborative, has good judgment, and has a humble attitude. The position requires that you can plan and manage a dog's training based on set delivery dates, which assumes you have the ability to work under time pressure with continuous follow-up and review.
