Description of the Workplace The position of Research Engineer will be placed in the research group led by Professor Niklas Marklund. The group includes two senior researchers, one senior expert, a research engineer, and typically several students. At the laboratory, experimental research is conducted on traumatic brain injuries with a focus on white matter damage, neuroinflammation, and sex differences. We have a large number of ongoing projects and many planned ones, and therefore we need additional personnel with expertise in the various techniques used in our laboratory, as well as to participate in the development of new methods. The research is conducted at Wallenberg Neurocentrum at the Biomedical Center in Lund (BMC), in close proximity to Skåne University Hospital in Lund. Tasks and Responsibilities We are seeking a person to work with the following tasks: Contribute to studies on acute brain injuries Actively develop projects and participate in analyses Work with animal models for acute brain injuries, including behavioral analyses Evaluate brain injury using molecular techniques Assist in applications for research funding Other tasks may also be included. Qualifications Requirements for employment: Master's degree in biomedicine or equivalent Must have expertise in immunohistochemistry including sectioning and staining, qRT-PCR, and Western Blot Must have experience working with epilepsy Must have experience with animal experimental methods, including anesthesia and surgery as well as behavioral analyses Must have experience in imaging and image analysis of stainings Ability to work independently and analytically Good communication skills Strong English language skills (both written and spoken) Meritorious for employment: Experience and training in statistical methods Experience contributing to research grant applications Other Information The employment is time-limited according to Special Fixed-Term Employment SÄVA 5§ p1 LAS and is full-time.
