JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Job Responsibilities As a family counselor in Östhammar Municipality, you have the opportunity to work within several areas where you can be involved and influence the work. Family counselors within the municipality conduct child sessions, counseling support with guardians, and also meet victims and perpetrators of violence. Within Open Care, family counseling is also provided. The work is conducted in close collaboration with internal and external partners. We work preventively, strengthening, and therapeutically. Assignments come from Social Services in the form of assistance decisions and through the service entrance, which means that young people and families themselves contact open care based on a need for support and help. The position includes working with advice and support sessions, group activities, and traditional family counseling. As a family counselor, you work independently and autonomously but also together with colleagues to achieve set goals for children, young people, and their parents. In Open Care, in addition to family counselors, there are also home therapists, personal advocates, youth educators, substance abuse counselors, and adult educators. Based on assignments, you will collaborate with both colleagues within Open Care and other actors who are important for the young person and family. QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a social worker or has a degree in behavioral science, social work, or another higher education that we find equivalent. You should have experience in parental support work and individual change work. You are thus well familiar with the documentation requirements and legislation that govern the operation. And the ability to conduct social documentation in a legally secure manner is a requirement. If you have previously worked as a family counselor and/or in substance abuse treatment, that is a merit, as is if you have basic step 1 training or other further education at university level in social treatment work. It is desirable if you are trained in MI, COPE, Safer Children, Conversations About Violence, and/or Post-Interview for Children. We would like you to be proficient in the business system Viva, and the job also requires that you have a class B driver's license and that you can express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability - you need to be able to work independently, take personal responsibility, be flexible in work and thinking, solution-focused, and have an ability to collaborate. Furthermore, you are open and accommodating with a positive attitude and ensure that your work progresses as planned. The work involves many contacts, so it is important that you have the ability to maintain and build good relationships. Communication skills and good demeanor are important. To be successful in the work, you should be confident in your professional role and be able to meet all kinds of people in need of support.
