Research and education at the Department of Environmental and Geosciences (MGeo) address fundamental and applied questions about Earth's past, present, and future climate and environment, including human interaction with nature and consequences for human well-being. MGeo develops and applies cutting-edge methods, models, and techniques in environmental science, quaternary and bedrock geology, paleontology, physical geography, biodiversity and ecosystem science, remote sensing, geographic information science (GIS), and computational science in environment and health to study processes ranging from the microscopic to the planetary, across all timescales. Responsibilities The work will be performed at Hyltemossa Research Station outside Perstorp and Geocentrum II in Lund. The main focus will be connected to the continuous monitoring programs at Hyltemossa station. This primarily includes surrounding measurements within ICOS (Integrated Carbon Observation System). To ensure comparability between measurements, it will also include measurements and assistance for research projects based at Hyltemossa. Field work will include vegetation/soil sampling, forest inventories, installation and maintenance of equipment. The laboratory component consists of sorting litter from Hyltemossa spruce forest into different fractions and processing vegetation and soil samples. Qualifications Successfully completed or ongoing bachelor's or master's degree studies in geoscience or similar. Previous field experience in forestry or agriculture. Previous experience with GHG measurements. Laboratory work experience. Valid EU driver's license required. Additional merits: Knowledge of ICOS procedures and protocols. Knowledge of forest inventory. Experience with vegetation and soil sample processing. Experience with TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanner). Knowledge of programming in R, Python, or Matlab. Consideration will be given to good collaboration skills, initiative and independence, as well as how the applicant through their experience and competence is assessed to complement and strengthen the work at Hyltemossa Station. Terms Employment is temporary for the period from September to December 2026. The position is 30% full-time equivalent.
