The school is located in Örebro and accepts students from the Dalarna, Södermanland, Värmland, Örebro, and East Gothland regions. Birgittaskolan aims to provide good conditions for students' development and learning, as well as improved academic results. Birgittaskolan offers student housing (Monday-Friday) for students who live too far away to commute daily. Our student residences are located in different areas of Örebro. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This is a full-time position (100%), divided between evening, day, and night shifts. Your main responsibilities are to be present for the students and provide them with security, care, and the support they need during their stay in the student residence so they can progress as far as possible in their education. You are involved in and contribute to meaningful leisure time for our students. Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring that students are involved and have a say in their daily lives. You are expected to plan, implement, and evaluate students' individual goal plans based on current regulations. This also includes performing regular residential duties such as cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and medication management. The starting point for all work in school and residential settings is that the child's best interests must always come first. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has: • Upper secondary education, e.g., Children and Recreation Program, Care and Health Program with a focus on disability support, or other education that the employer deems appropriate • Previous experience working in residential care with children with challenging behaviors • Basic knowledge of child development and various disabilities • Swedish Sign Language is a requirement for this position, as our sign language environment is very important • Knowledge of AAC (alternative communication methods) such as visual supports and tactile support • Basic computer skills. It is meriting if you also have: • Experience planning and implementing leisure activities for children and young people • Knowledge of low-arousal approaches • Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disabilities • Knowledge of ICDP (International Child Development Programme), guided interaction. Personal qualities: As a residential counselor at a student residence, you are expected to be involved in planning, implementing, monitoring, and developing the operations. Social interaction and communication are important in our work. You are flexible and have good collaboration skills with your colleagues, management, guardians, and school staff. We value qualities such as being trustworthy, stable, reliable, and responsive, as well as the ability to recognize small steps of progress. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Employment type: Fixed-term employment. Duration: 3-6 months. Fill-in assignment. An extract from the Police Register must be presented before employment.
