Computational Engineer, Interior Ballistics
Popis:
Do you want to make a real impact and make a difference? Here you contribute to creating security for people and society. What you do matters. Your Role As an analysis engineer at Saab Dynamics, you will work with a large number of advanced products that are at the forefront of technology and in most cases are world leaders in their segments. Interior ballistics is a complex subject area that requires knowledge across multiple disciplines such as physics, thermodynamics, and mechanics. The role involves to a large extent investigating these interior ballistic processes both theoretically and through practical test setups. We appreciate if you are driven by the desire to solve problems and identify which factors affect a particular process. This is not a classical computation service role where you are only expected to work with one type of calculation; rather, it is a creative role where you as an engineer get the opportunity to shape both the design itself through predictive calculations and also design test setups and conduct analysis of test results. The work will partly involve working on larger development projects but also conducting studies adjacent to research in interior ballistics, and participating in specific investigations when needed. The interior ballistics engineer is often involved throughout the entire development process, from requirement analysis through design decisions to verification of the final product. You will frequently collaborate with many other engineers on the development unit in project form. The projects you will participate in vary in size; we run large projects that require strong collaboration skills and smaller projects that require independence. As an analysis engineer in interior ballistics and rocket motor technology, you will be primarily involved in development work on our products within the business areas Ground Combat and Missiles. From Ground Combat you will find systems such as NLAW, Carl Gustaf, and AT4, and from Missiles systems such as RBS 15 and RBS 70. Your primary responsibilities as a computational engineer consist of designing, modeling, and analyzing the propulsion process that occurs during launch and the projectile's flight to target with respect to: Firing process and propellant charge Force balance during launch Rocket motor technology Analyses relating to fluid mechanics and thermodynamics Test setup and test evaluation during firing tests Sound pressure Your Profile We are looking for someone who is solution-oriented and has good communication and collaboration skills. We believe you are a civil engineer in mechanical engineering, engineering physics with a focus on calculation, or have education/experience that is deemed equivalent or higher. You have good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Our expectations of you as a new analysis engineer with us are that you have sufficient background in engineering, physics, and mathematics to understand and absorb our specific challenges. However, we do not expect you to have specific knowledge in interior ballistics before you join us; you will acquire that knowledge over a number of years by working in our team. Desired prior knowledge Matlab Ansys (CFX, Fluent) Meriting knowledge Image processing Experimental development Programming Previous industry experience The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to current security protection regulations. For positions where Saab has security clearance requirements, there may be requirements for certain citizenship. Please note that we conduct continuous selection and the position may be filled before the application deadline has expired. What You Become Part Of Discover endless possibilities. Take on challenges, create smart innovations, and upgrade your capabilities. This is a place for clever thinkers, brave pioneers, and everyone in between. Together we achieve the extraordinary, each bringing their unique perspective. Every contribution counts. Saab is a leading defense and security company with the purpose of helping nations protect their population and contribute to the security of people and society. With 28,000 talented employees, Saab develops technology and solutions for a safer and more sustainable world. Saab develops, manufactures, and maintains advanced systems in aeronautics, weapons, command systems, sensors, and underwater systems. Saab is headquartered in Sweden but operates globally, where Saab is part of many nations' defense capabilities.
