The Operations Unit is responsible for core activities in the Traffic and Parks Department and performs maintenance and upkeep of municipal streets and roads, public spaces, parks, and playgrounds. Job Responsibilities The Traffic and Parks Department's Operations Unit is looking for a construction worker specializing in street work. The Operations Unit's construction workers perform maintenance and upkeep work on streets and roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths, parks, and playgrounds. On the street side, the main tasks include maintaining drains and ditches, stone and paving work, minor asphalt laying, and other ground work. The position also includes manual snow removal and de-icing, ice rink maintenance, tree felling, minor repair and carpentry work, and signage. On-call duty during both summer and winter may be included. During winter, the on-call assignment involves performing snow and de-icing operations with construction machinery. Some administrative work is part of the position, such as digital time reporting of completed tasks. Qualifications We are looking for someone with construction technical education in land and construction at secondary school level, or equivalent experience that the employer deems sufficient. As a person, you are quality-conscious, willing to help in other professional areas within the Traffic and Parks Department, and take initiative in your work. We would appreciate if you are responsible, thorough, flexible, and service-oriented. The work involves both teamwork and independent tasks, and it is important that you have good collaboration skills. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. A valid driver's license for manual vehicles (category B) is required; other licenses are meriting. Holding valid certifications and licenses such as APV (Work on Roads), crane operator certification, chainsaw license level AB/C, brush cutter certification, and similar qualifications are meriting for the position.
