We are now recruiting two special education teachers due to retirements – one special education teacher specializing in mathematics and one specializing in language, reading, and writing. Gullhögskolan is Vårgårda Municipality's secondary school with approximately 410 students. This is where all the municipality's young people come together to complete the final stage of compulsory education. We are centrally located in Vårgårda and you can easily get here from surrounding municipalities. Our school is a place to be proud of. Every day, just over 60 staff members work here for our wonderful students. We are organized in work teams around three classes at the same grade level and in subject teams for collaboration and support in subject development. You will be part of the special education team work group and the subject team for mathematics or Swedish and Swedish as a second language. Together, you will be responsible for students' knowledge development. In addition to the school's teaching staff, we have a complete student welfare team with 1–2 professionals per discipline. As an extension of the student welfare team, there is the special education team that provides students with support in their learning, and the social team that supports social development through recess activities, adult presence, work against harassment, and work on attendance. We have our own caretaker, fantastic school cafeteria, administration office, and a fine school library with a trained librarian in collaboration with library staff. We also have a specialized teaching group, adapted compulsory education, a preparatory group, and are responsible for native language instruction and study support at the municipality's primary schools. We focus on cognitive science about learning and teaching, reading analog materials, handwriting, using retrieval in instruction, and ensuring that practical subjects remain as practical as possible. WORK DUTIES Your work duties are typical for special education teachers, including: · Support instruction individually, in small groups, and in class · Planning, implementation, and development of instruction · Assessment and consultation with teachers in relation to the teacher's grading (in applicable cases, also independent grading) · Homework help and extended study time · Active participation in the special education team and subject team · Analysis of grades and proposals for resource allocation · Investigations, follow-ups, and in certain cases preparation of intervention plans · Collaboration with students, guardians, colleagues, management, and where applicable, external parties QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who have teacher certification with eligibility to teach mathematics in grades 7–9 and preferably with completed advanced training as a special education teacher specializing in mathematics or language, reading, and writing. Meritorious · Previous experience with special education at the secondary level. · Knowledge of cognitive science about learning and teaching/science of learning and science of reading.
