The Community Development Department offers creative discussions, a fast pace, solution-focused work methods, and gives you the opportunity to drive and participate in dynamic community development processes. We are a collaborative department between Hällefors, Lindesberg, Ljusnarsberg, and Nora municipalities with a broad mandate within the municipalities' community development processes. The department consists of two main business areas: technical operations, and construction and environment. The Roads and Traffic Unit is part of Technical Operations and is responsible for the municipalities' roads, streets, and pedestrian and bicycle paths. It is a broad assignment covering approximately 55 miles of road, around 15,000 lighting points, and 80 bridges. About 18 employees with various competencies work here in traffic, planning, operations, and management. Together, we work to create safe, functional, and well-maintained traffic environments for the municipalities' residents, year-round. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a traffic engineer at the Roads and Traffic Unit, you become an important part of the work to develop the municipalities' traffic environments. You work both strategically and operatively with issues related to traffic, streets, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and the public environment. In this role, you are responsible for planning, investigating, and developing traffic and street environments with a focus on traffic safety, accessibility, and sustainable solutions. You work with traffic investigations and prepare materials for local traffic regulations while contributing traffic expertise in detailed plans and development projects. You monitor and plan initiatives within your area of responsibility and handle traffic matters, public input, and citizen suggestions. You have many points of contact and collaborate with contractors, consultants, authorities, residents, and other stakeholders. In the role, you function as an expert in traffic issues and related legislation and participate in preparing expert opinions and other decision-making materials. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with an interest in community development and who wants to help create sustainable and well-functioning traffic environments for the municipalities' residents. You have relevant higher education or vocational training in community development, traffic planning, or another field that the employer considers equivalent. You express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing and have a class B driver's license. It is meritorious if you have experience in traffic planning, traffic safety work, or other activities related to traffic and street environments. Experience from municipal operations and knowledge of GIS or other map-based systems is also meritorious. To succeed in this role, you need to be able to drive your work independently and take responsibility for moving issues forward in a structured and thorough manner. You have a solution-oriented approach, good collaborative skills, and enjoy a role with many points of contact. Since you will be collaborating with residents and businesses as well as politicians, authorities, and other stakeholders, you need to be confident and professional in your communication and be able to build trust in different contexts.
