Special Education Teacher at Internationella Engelska Skolan Österåker In August 2024, we opened the doors to our new school, Internationella Engelska Skolan Österåker. IES Österåker is a school for preschool through grade 9. When the school is at full capacity, we will have approximately 600 students distributed across two parallel classes per grade level. We follow the Swedish curriculum where up to 50% of instruction takes place in English. IESÖ consists of a newly built and a partially renovated school building and is located in central Åkersberga. The school is surrounded by sports facilities, large green areas, and the archipelago, all within commuting distance to Stockholm. Your New Role As a special education teacher with us, you work to identify, analyze, and remove barriers in the learning environment and provide support to students with special needs. A special education teacher has a coaching role and often serves as a sounding board to other teachers and educators, while also providing individual instruction and support to students who need it, both in and outside the classroom. You are also responsible for documenting support measures and monitoring intervention plans. The role involves close collaboration with teaching staff, mentors, and the student support team to ensure that each student receives the right support at the right time. Work tasks include: - Assessment and pedagogical evaluations - Development, documentation, and monitoring of intervention plans - Planning and implementation of special education interventions - Coaching and support to colleagues - Collaboration with the student support team - Contact and cooperation with guardians You are expected to actively contribute to upholding the school's values and vision. Your Profile We are looking for you who are a certified special education teacher. You are organized, solution-focused, and have a strong ability to build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You are a team player who thrives in close collaboration with teachers and student support services and have an inclusive approach. You have: - Good knowledge of accommodations and special support - Experience conducting pedagogical assessments and writing intervention plans - Ability to analyze learning environments and suggest development initiatives - Clear leadership and a reassuring demeanor Instruction takes place in Swedish. The working language among colleagues is both Swedish and English, so you also need to have good English skills. Other Information The position is 100%. We apply a 6-month probationary period. Interviews are held on a rolling basis during the application period and the position may be filled before the application period ends. A valid extract from belastningsregistret for work in schools is mandatory to provide.
