Now you have the chance to influence students' future and education in a creative and enabling school environment. We are now looking for a career and education counselor for SiS Youth Home Råby in Lund. The students placed at the units are not school-compulsory. They study within the framework of the introductory program; individual alternative, but there may also be school-compulsory students as well as students within adapted education. Many of the students have had difficulties in schoolwork and have great needs to compensate for insufficient schooling. All students have an individual study plan where, together with a mentor and career and education counselor, goals are set and basic school and/or upper secondary common subjects are studied according to their needs. Teaching is conducted full-time in smaller teaching groups. As a career and education counselor, your main task is to guide students towards further studies, internships or alternative paths into working life. Some administrative work tasks linked to students' ongoing schooling may also occur. The work also involves guiding and leading teacher groups on matters concerning education, work life and society within the framework of general career and education counseling. The career and education counselor position involves collaboration both within SiS and with other professionals around the students within social services and education administration, where students' right to education is central. As a career and education counselor, you contribute to enabling continuity in students' schooling both when they are placed, during their time, and when they move out of SiS. At the youth home there are several complementary competencies and as a career and education counselor you are part of an interdisciplinary and collaborative effort around the young people. Collaboration with, for example, nurses, treatment educators and psychologists, etc. is therefore an important part of your work tasks. To thrive in the role, it is important that you are flexible and have good communication skills. Qualifications Requirements You are trained and experienced career and education counselor from upper secondary school or higher You have experience working with students in need of support You are well versed in upper secondary school regulations and relevant laws and regulations, including GY25 and other relevant policy documents You have good IT skills and experience with information searching You want to develop guidance work at the youth home in collaboration with others Meritorious Experience from introductory programs and/or special teaching groups Work with youth in institutional care Good knowledge of various educational paths within adult education You need to be motivated by working with and building trustful pedagogical relationships with students with psychosocial problems and those involved in crime. It is important that you can identify and meet students with high realistic expectations and support the student in finding their goals and showing them possible paths to achieve them. You are flexible, responsive and understand that there may be obstacles while having the ability to see new opportunities for the student. You have confidence that all students can find a path to education and work. You are confident, unpretentious, stable, can set and maintain boundaries in a respectful manner and remain calm even in stressful situations. You have good collaboration skills, high social competence and a positive view of students. You also understand the importance of adapting to changed circumstances and see the benefits of change. You are proactive and participate in development work to achieve the school's goals and always take responsibility for your work tasks by planning, organizing and prioritizing work efficiently. The work requires that you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing and that you think about adapting communication depending on the recipient. The position is a seasonal position with statutory vacation, which corresponds to 40 hours per work week for a position with 100% scope. We place great importance on personal suitability.
