About the Position Internationella Engelska Skolan Värmdö opened in 2021 and has since built a strong school culture with clear routines, good relationships, and high expectations for both students and staff. At IES Värmdö, we work together to create a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment where all students have the right conditions to develop. The school currently has approximately 610 students in grades F–9 and around 65 employees. We are now seeking a confident, engaged, and responsible personal assistant/student assistant for a student in preschool class with extensive support needs. About the Role As a personal assistant, you will work closely with a student throughout the school day and be an important source of support both in teaching situations and in everyday activities. The role involves helping the student participate in the school's activities in a safe and meaningful way according to the student's individual circumstances. The work includes support with: - Mobility and motor activities - Lessons and teaching situations - Breaks, transitions, and social contexts - Meals and practical daily routines - Communication, concentration, and participation in activities - Physical activities both indoors and outdoors You will work closely with classroom teachers, after-school staff, student welfare services, guardians, and external professionals supporting the student. The role requires high attendance, patience, flexibility, and excellent judgment in daily situations. We Are Looking for Someone Who: - Is confident, calm, and responsible - Has genuine commitment to supporting children with extensive support needs - Has good collaboration skills and is responsive in interactions with students, colleagues, and guardians - Has the ability to create structure, safety, and positive relationships - Is flexible and can adapt to the student's daily condition and needs - Is physically present and active in working with the student - Has good ability to communicate in Swedish, both spoken and written It is meritorious if you have: - Experience working with children with physical disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental disorders - Experience as a personal assistant, student assistant, or in adapted activities - Knowledge of low-arousal approaches - Experience working in a school or preschool - Education in pedagogy, child and youth work, care and social services, or a similar field Personal Qualities We place great importance on personal suitability. You need to be able to work closely with the student throughout the day and contribute to creating safety while supporting the student's independence and development. The work involves close collaboration with school staff and guardians, and it is therefore important that you are communicative, cooperative, and solution-focused.
