About American Gymnasium, Halmstad The school is located on the Halmstad University campus. The school is now in its fourth academic year and has approximately 160 students studying in the Natural Sciences, Economics, or Social Sciences programs. Teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish by a competent teaching team with a strong sense of community. About the Position As a special education teacher/specialist, you will work partly within the school's student support team and be an important part of the promotion and prevention efforts. You will also work operationally to support teachers in the learning situation, where classroom visits are an important part of daily work. You ensure that students receive the right support and that teachers have the right knowledge to organize instruction so that it is accessible to all students. You will also work closely with school leadership and serve as an extended arm in ensuring that teachers and students have the right conditions to succeed. Together with school leadership, you are responsible for planning and driving support work at the individual, group, and organizational levels, as well as for students in need of special support. In collaboration with teachers and guardians, you provide support in adapting studies for students. You develop action plans and conduct assessments, such as pedagogical evaluations, as needed. You also support principals in school development matters and actively participate in the school's development work. You will support students with structure, planning, and study skills. We expect you to have good familiarity with compensatory aids and competence in digital learning tools. This is a permanent position at 20-40%, beginning with a 6-month trial period. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement. Your Profile We are looking for someone who is trained as a special education teacher or specialist with a diploma, and preferably also holds a teacher certification. Previous professional experience is a requirement. It is also meritorious if you have worked with upper secondary students. You have experience developing action plans and conducting pedagogical assessments, as well as solid knowledge of and experience working with students with reading and writing difficulties. You also have knowledge of and experience with language development teaching methods. You have a professional approach in interactions with students, colleagues, and guardians, and good insight into people's different circumstances. You collaborate easily and build strong working relationships with a coaching and mentoring approach. As a person, you are solution-oriented. You see possibilities and always lead challenges and problems toward solutions. You have a thoroughly positive attitude.
