Your Role As a special education teacher, you'll work with students in grades F-6 who need specific support in mathematics, language, writing, and reading development. You'll be part of the school's student health team and a special education teacher team consisting of three special education teachers and one special education specialist. Together with teachers, students, and guardians, you'll create the best conditions for student learning through support measures, adaptations, and positive relationships. Another special education teacher also works with grades F-6 at the school. You'll be grade coordinators responsible for two grades each, where you support and serve as a sounding board for these grades. As a special education teacher, you'll actively teach and support students through individualized interventions in the classroom, in small groups, and one-on-one. You're responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction based on the curriculum and school law. With confidence and dedication, you'll mentor and support colleagues and work teams, contributing special education expertise in adaptations, teaching strategies, and learning environments. You stay updated on current special education research and share your theoretical knowledge and pedagogical expertise. You observe, document, follow up, write action plans, apply for additional funding, and develop intervention programs and pedagogical assessments of students' support needs. You also conduct and analyze screenings and other assessments. Work happens in close collaboration with the special education teacher team, teachers, school leadership, and our well-functioning student health team. Together, you work across professions with remedial, promotional, and preventive measures based on student needs. You lead meetings with students and guardians to inform about and discuss chosen interventions and collaborate on student needs with other actors, both within and outside the school. Your Experience For this position, you must have: - Teacher certification with authorization to teach grades F-6 - Special education teacher certification with specialization in language, writing, and reading development or mathematics development - Experience working as a teacher in primary and/or intermediate grades - Experience working as a special education teacher in language, writing, and reading development and/or mathematics - Knowledge of and experience in assessing needs and documenting support measures, such as pedagogical assessments and intervention programs - Good digital competence with experience using digital pedagogical tools - Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written It's meritorious if you also have experience mentoring teachers.
