Within the Children and Education Department, we work consciously and purposefully to provide every child and student with the tools needed to seek knowledge in life. The goal is for every child and student to develop according to their abilities and feel joy and pride in their accomplishments. We are looking for you to work as a school counselor in Nässjö Municipality. You will be part of student welfare's psychosocial services, which are part of the Central Student Welfare unit. Central Student Welfare consists of a broad range of expertise with different professions. In addition to school counselors, there are school doctors, school psychologists, school nurses, special educators, specialist teachers, speech-language pathologists, educators, student coaches, and development teachers. As a school counselor, you will have an important role in the school's student welfare and school development. You will be part of the school's student welfare team, where you work closely with other professions. As a school counselor, you work in a promoting and preventive manner to create a good environment for students' health, learning, and development. The school counselor is an expert in social work and social legislation. The assignment is governed by the Education Act, the Social Services Act, the Discrimination Act, the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act, and municipal governing documents. The work includes, among other things, planning and implementation of promoting and preventive work, individual student and parent contacts, support conversations, conducting school social investigations, participating in follow-up regarding students' school attendance, collaboration with teachers, and contact with other agencies such as social services, habilitation, and child and adolescent psychiatric services. 1 position(s). WORK TASKS Actively promote values-based work at the school and strive to ensure that human rights and democracy are upheld Professional conversations, such as support, motivation, crisis, and conflict conversations as well as investigative, advisory, and processing conversations with individual students and their families Investigate and assess the social and psychosocial situation of individual students and for the school as a whole Initiate and participate in reports to social services and police Document completed interventions in the school's record system Work with individual students and groups in acute situations and for preventive purposes Participate in student welfare teams and safety teams Contribute to other school staff's professional development in the social and psychosocial field Participate in crisis teams Collaborate with community resources, social services, psychiatry, habilitation, police, and youth counseling services Contribute to school development Be a good representative externally for the school as a social worker Stay current in your profession. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or equivalent education in behavioral sciences. Experience working with children and adolescents and as a school counselor is meritorious. You have good knowledge of the school's objectives and governing documents, knowledge of other departments and, for example, child and adolescent psychiatry services, as well as knowledge of practices and guidelines in the field.
