As a school counselor in Krokom Municipality, you will become part of the Central Children and Student Health Services – an operation with approximately 25 employees from different professions who work together for children's learning, development, and health. With us, you will have the opportunity to work with individual students as well as groups and the school's development work. Together with school management, educators, and student health professionals, you contribute to the school's promotion, prevention, and intervention efforts for increased attendance, safety, and goal achievement. The Department of Children and Education has approximately 800 employees. The department's operations span the entire municipality and include preschool, primary school grades F–9, adapted primary school, after-school care, food and facilities management, mother tongue instruction, and library services. A day as a school counselor in Krokom Municipality As a school counselor, you work to promote student health, well-being, and opportunities to achieve educational goals. You contribute knowledge about the social and psychosocial factors that affect student learning and development and are an important part of creating safe and inclusive learning environments. You are organizationally placed within the Central Children and Student Health Services and are simultaneously part of local student health teams in the schools. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the principal, educators, guardians, and other student health professionals. Your duties include: • conducting support, motivation, and counseling conversations with students • contributing social and psychosocial expertise to student health work • providing consultation and supervision to school staff • collaborating with guardians and external partners • working in a promoting, preventive, and intervention-oriented manner at the individual, group, and organizational level • contributing to the school's values-based work and development of student health efforts The position involves varied work where you combine direct student-focused work with development work at the organizational level. Your qualifications Requirements for the position • Bachelor's degree in Social Work • Experience working with children and youth • Strong ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing • Good knowledge of legislation governing school operations, confidentiality, and public administration • Driver's license (category B) and access to a car Personal qualities As a person, you are calm, confident, and responsible. You have an inclusive approach and a strong ability to build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You are confident in your role as a conversation leader and can meet people with warmth and attentiveness while guiding conversations forward in a structured and professional manner. You have an analytical approach and the ability to see both the big picture and the details. You translate analysis into action and contribute to organizational development. You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working both independently and with others.
